Strange problem with hair SP Hair 008 for GF 3 and 8

Hey guys,

I have very weird problem. When I load this hairhttps://www.daz3d.com/sp-hair-008-for-genesis-3-and-8-females to my character and after I choose move to floor (ctrl+d) then my character is dropped not to floor only is hanging above it few inches. When I remove hair everything is fine and I can move to floor fully. Any way how to sort it? It's not happening in zero pose only when I apply any other pose

I don't know why. Maybe Richard or barbult can help you with this. When I run into an issue like this, I just deal with it; e.g., manually lower the character on the Y axis to the floor, and check the underside to ensure the feet/shoes have enough contact, OR use a different hair if time is short.

The hair has a very large bounding box, and when it is fitted that is below the ground - it is the bounding boxes that are used by Drop To Floor, as far as I know.

The culprit is that, for some reason, there're some vertices at the bottom of the bounding box of the hair. If you marquee select Vertex from bottom to up with Geometry Editor...you'll see them. (screenshot 1) . It seems like a duplicated scrunchie... unused vertices should've been removed before rigging.

In this case, do not use Ctrl + D, use Align plugin instead with Stack option on Y axis. Quick and accurate. (screenshot 2)

Edit: If there's no floor in your scene, add a primitive plane as a floor and hide it.

  • Align plugin?

Is that a standard feature of DS? If it is, I have entirely missed it. I'd assume it's in Windows->Tabs as I've never yet seen it. Could be I wasn't looking for it..

    Regards,

    Richard

Yes, that's it, a standard feature of DS:  Windows - Panes (Tabs) - Align...
