Speckles in night scene renders

I have a rather frustrating issue. I'm trying to render a night scene but every time I do it, I end up with various coloured speckles scattered across the render. I have read that in order to remove them, I need to add more light but if I do that, I'd loose the night time affect of the scene. Any ideas on how to rectify this?

Good start is popping your noise degrain filter to 1, and a couple other parameters auto-adjust. As for light, it doesn't have to be bright, like whites or bright yellows, it can be dark blues, purples, or even dark earthy browns and still be effective. You can throw in a dark-colored HDRI, for example. There are a few in Purelight Apocalypse https://www.daz3d.com/purelight-apocalypse that are go-tos for night scenes for me, and I also use them to test out the effectiveness of emissive surfaces and make adjustments. Aside from that, you can make it a little lighter than you want and darken it in Gimp, Krita, Luminar, PS, or whatever you use for post via filters and/or vignette.

    Yeah, it's definitely annoying.
