I require simple starfield backgrounds that I can place items like....ships, planets, ect...in.
I purchased:
But I didn't find any simple starfields, I can use as a basic background.
As far as building one, myself, well...I'm not really sure what steps to take, in order to do that.
Any suggests? (Where to download some? How to construct one?)

There also used to be some very nice free starfields from Salashin but they seem to have disappeared..I made the attached Render a few years ago using one of the Salashin starfields I can no longer find
Edited to add: While i can't find all her starfield backgrounds, I did find Salashin's free Space Enviro Kit on the web archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20120418133923/http://blackraven3d.com/ (warning: it is a very slow download, but well worth it)

Theres also a really cool starfield generator action for Photoshop called Outer Space by Emanuele Feronato, creates a different field each time you run the action, it works pretty well.
If anyone is interested...
I don't know how good these will look at the forum resize of 800 x 800, but here are a couple of my Starfields... They are seamless...
If you click on the thumbnails in the thread where I posted them, they look much bigger and more detailed...
The thread where these are located is here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/59113/an-ot-thread-for-images#latest
They should be near the bottom of page 2.... those are 2400 x 2400... The originals are 4800 x 4800, if anyone really needs that size, PM me and I'll send them to you or post them to ShareCG.
Here are the other two...
Thank you McGyver :-)
These were clickable too and are 2400x ;-)
You are both welcome!
I made mine with Vue ... http://www.sharecg.com/v/30820/gallery/11/Poser/Spacey-Backgrounds-from-Kerya
On sale right now, looks interesting:

There's FilterForge...
But it's REALLY EASY (I mean, seriously, takes maybe 2 minutes) to generate a basic starfield with GIMP (and, I assume, Photoshop):
Start with a blank page, fill with black.
Filter > Noise > RGB Noise
Slide all the colors to max.
Desaturate Luminosity.
Then just play with Levels (generally move everything to the right) until you get the density you want.
I made a single 16000 x 8000 starfield that I've used for all the stars I've needed. I just crop it to whatever size I want and composite. I've occasionally used it as an environment map, but 99% of the time that's unnecessary.
~ interesting subject ~
and then - there is the toothbrush method
