Shadow Dancer for Victoria 3 appears to have evaporated...

...from the DAZ Store, along with a lot of other older items. I have submitted tickets to Sales about this, but the staffers I've worked with don't appear to know what I'm talking about, asking me repeatedly for SKU numbers that I cannot provide because most of the items in question were around before the SKU system was implemented. I presume that this change ocurred after DAZ 3D was bought out by Tafi.
Oh, how I long for the days when I could just call somebody up at DAZ and get something taken care of.

a lot of older stuff was discontinued
you can still get it for V4
https://www.daz3d.com/shadow-dancer-for-v4
or you can try Aiko or Hiro 3
https://www.daz3d.com/shadow-dancer-for-aiko-3
https://www.daz3d.com/shadow-dancer-for-hiro-3-0
and run edit Figure transfer active morphs since V3,M3, A3, H3 and D3 are unimesh figures
Shadow Dancer for V3: SKU# 4303, not that it will do much good. Once it has been retired, it's gone for good.
All the other Shadow Dancer versions are stil available. All are Daz Originals, made by Lourdes (long gone), but the V3 version was co-created by Lourdes and Xena. Maybe Xena didn't want to be bought out. There was a bundle (SKU# 5286) with V3/A3 and V4/A4 versions, but that is gone as well.
This is going to sound really convoluted (because it is!), but it's possible to do an autofit of ShadowDancer for Hiro3 (or A3) on V3 if you turn V3 into a TriAx character and load the Hiro3 (or A3) default figure obj file as an autofit clone in the way described in the tutorial in this thread. The tutorial goes beyond what you'd need to load ShadowDancer on V3, but you could extract only what you need.
Like I said, it's convoluted & would depend on how much you need a Shadow Dancer on V3.

Richard
yes I omitted a step, V3 would need a H3 or A3 morph or rather they would need a V3 morph created in morphloader to transfer active morphs
because DS4 does not have figure mixer
so yes would need to fit it on the required figure first with a morphloader morph dialed in
It would be nice to find out who makes the decisions about which items get retired; as it is, stuff just appears to vanish at random. I added those SKU numbers to my ticket, though (thanks much for that!), so I'll see what happens from there.
I'm driven primarily by rabid completism, like Pokemon ("Gotta Catch 'Em All!").
Ain't that always the way, though? Back in the day, I didn't have money to spend on this stuff, and now that my situation has changed, what I am now able to purchase has been yanked off the market.
What a damn nuisance.
If you must have Shadow Dancer on V3 and can shell out a few bucks there is Clothes Converter which can convert from V4 to V3 - https://www.daz3d.com/clothes-converter-4-0
It turns out I bought that years ago! I've just installed it on a new machine...and now it prompts me for a security code.
Looks like I need to submit Yet Another Ticket. :: grumble ::
no there is a trick to this
in your account under serial numbers
https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/serialnumbers
userkeyname#### goes in top box rest in bottom
That was the first place I looked, but found no listing for that app.
Then you should probably put in a support request, pointing to the fact you have bought it (quote transaction number & attach image of invoice) & the serial number shouldn't have disappeared.
Regards,
Richard
My recollection is that the PA's products place a readme on installation, and that has the (generic) user name and serial number listed.
I went sniffing around in the folder where the app is installed but found no readme. I have submitted a ticket, so we'll see what happens.
hmmmm https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/484796/clothes-converter-4-0-registry-key
is gone again
Ah, so this is not a new problem...
well it was fixed when I made that post, seems they have lost it again
Just checked and mine's gone as well, additionaly checked a saved txt file that had my DAZ Serial numbers as backup and it's there.
Welp, my Help Ticket came back successful! Huzzah!
Clothes Converter works now and Vicky 3 can now join the other Shadow Dancers.
I also saved the codes in a text file...Just In Case...
Very wise!
Regards,
Richard
Good news !!!
they haven't added it back to my serials though
does everyone have to ask for it now?
(is OK I too have it in a text file on my PC)
Hello Wendy
Looks like we need to ask individually, no sign of it in my serial numbers list, glad I made a backup !!!
Makes me wonder if something like this would work using Genesis, if we have the Generation 3 shapes for Genesis. We could use the V3 clone of Genesis to shape the costume, then do some Wendy workaround magic to turn it into a V3 item?
Just thinking aloud.
Having GenX2 along with all of the clones, I prefer using Genesis 1, 2 or 3 when I want to use V3 or any of those figures from Generation 3. But that's just me and my workflow.
the advantage is one can batch convert legacy stuff without using DAZ studio or Poser
it creates new cr2 files
I use it to make a lot of stuff fit V4 and M4 to then use Autofit on in D|S and Carrara with Genesis 1
