[Solved] RTX Cards with DS4.12 - Version Probably Too Old

TynkereTynkere Posts: 834

Well this is odd.  Maybe I’m missing a setting.

Finally got replacement for dying video card and as title implies-- it won't render or preview in DS4.12

Works in 4.20, 4.21, and 4.22

It’s the same file so a puzzlement.

Update Yer Drivers game?

“551.23-quadro-rtx-desktop-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql” is from January this year so I assume it's the most current.

No huge loss if 4.12 is out of the picture.  Just wondering if Iray in DS4.12 should work or if it's outdated, archive the folder to USB.

I'm using an aging i-7 (6700) Windows 10 desktop if that helps.

I think Iray in DS 4.12 does not support RTX cards.

Which card it it? IIRC did support some RTX cards, but yours might be too recent

I'm fairly confident 4.12 predates the very existence of RTX cards.

DS 4.12 does work with RTX 2xxx, but RTX 3xxx requires DS 4.15 or newer

I just checked, 4.11 was the first version able to use RTX 20xx cards. It didn't take advantage of RTX features yet though.

The first one supporting 30xx cards was a 4.14 (one of the later betas IIRC).

Thanks for replies.  Much of it Greek to me.  Will just retire 4.12-- it had a good run.  : )
