DS 4.22.1.74 Beta - caustics bug seems to be fixed

Some time ago I ran my test-scene with glasses and fluid to test caustics effects in DS.

In DS 4.21.1.26 Beta there still was the long standing bug of the caustic's colors being reversed (you know this rainbow effect created by prisms).

I now ran the test-scene again in DS 4.22.1.74 Beta - and yea, the caustics are now correct.

This is not only related to the caustics sampler - even when that one is off, DS still calculates caustics effects (even though with less accuracy).

I don't know in which version DAZ fixed it, because I have not tested it in all versions since 4.21.1.26.

Technically this is dispersion/Abbe rather than caustics, but dang it's good to hear that's finally been fixed.

I've not updated to 4.22.1.74 yet, so can report that it seems to be fixed in 4.22.1.58 (I originally discovered it when trying to recreate the Dark Side of the Moon cover and found all the colours were back to front. However, reloading that scene it does now work correctly).

Yep agreed. I should have written "dispersion effect within a caustics test scene" or the like - and "DS is calculating dispersion effects regardless of whether caustics sampler is on or off".

I just checked what DAZ uses as parameter name in the default shaders like diamond or glass - there it is Abbe like you wrote.

Two examples one with Abbe = 5, one with Abbe = 40. The lower the value the stronger the effect.

Yes, it is within iray, but users might not distinguish between DS and iray. They install a DS version and not a version of iray. So, I checked the threads. The fix seems to be in Iray 2023.x which is part of DS 4.22.x if I have read those changelogs correctly.
