IRAY: Sun-Sky Only: SS Time: 8-9+ PM. Why?

So I was playing around with the sun sky only lights in iray and all of a sudden the question popped into my head, why, when using sun sky only, would you have an ss time setting in which there is effectively no light?

Anybody have any thoughts or explanations about this?

  • There's light at 9 PM if you ar far enough from the equator in Summer - the limits aren't dynamically adjustable.

So its based off lattitude and longtitude and the time of year. The idea being that somewhere in the world at some time of day there is going to be light somewhere? Alaska evenings in the summer time for example? Ill have to give that a try.

  • Yes, you set position and time and get the lighting for that.

  • Great, thanks Richard.
