Saving a clothing geometry with a geoshell?

I've created some custom clothing, and I had to create a geoshell in order to get a bump map working with the shader I was using (stockings material)
What I'm having trouble with is saving the Clothing Item to sell as a product with the geoshell parented (File>Save as>Support Asset>Figure/Prop Assets)
It only seems to save the clothing item or the geoshell by itself.
Products like Umbra Outfit for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females will load both the clothing item and the geoshell at the same time, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that.
I don't need to make a wearable preset because i'm trying to SELL this item.

Any ideas on how to save a clothing item and a geoshell together to package as a product?

  • Use a Wearables preset.

  • A Wearable present doesn't have the geometry and morph data, pretty sure. But I tried it anyway and it loaded only the geoshell over G8

When you save as a wearable preset you should be able to select the clothing and the geoshell.

If not try to post an image of what you are seeing when trying to save.

Yes you do need a wearables preset - that is precisely what you need when loading content that already has its assets defined and just needs to be loaded and have settings applied/be fitted/be parented. That is what store items use.

  • Alright thanks, trying to make it work now, for some reason it's not showing the Clothing item only the geoshells so i'm going to redo it and see if it works that way.
I hope it works, it'd be awful to upload something that doesn't work and then have no way to make it work for those that purchased it.

Well it sort of works, it's loading the Clothing and the Shell but it's also loading the entire G8 figure and there is no way to unselect it.

Should I be loading the clothing by itself and just making a wearable preset from there I guess?

  • Okay it seems to have worked now, I loaded a New Scene with default G8, then loaded the fitting clothing I made, then recreated the geoshell and with the figure unselected it let me make the wearable preset.
So now It loads both the fitting clothing and the geoshell without the g8 figure.

So I imagine in the future I still  need to File>Save as>Support Asset>Figure/Prop Assets to make sure that all the geometry and morph data is saved to the content directories, then make the wearable preset.

    Thanks for the help

A wearable preset does not include the character - only all the items parented to the character.. And then you should tick which items to save.

    Try to post an image.

  • Yeah it seems If you have the clothing selected, it will exclude that item, the concept is to Select the G8 figure so it excludes the figure, and only shows clothing items and it's geoshell.

A little weird but now it works thank you very much

  • For a Wearables preset to work the items have to be aprented to the figure. It may be that the parenting was lacking on the first attempt.
