different shaders on one object

I want to create some simple timbers for my scene and therefore i intend to use simple primitives. I want to use various tilings for the wood on the cube. I created a new object with the geomwtry editor that I called "left side" but it doesn't appear in the surface settings, there I still only have the default surface of the primitive.

How can I assign different quallities to the different sides of the cube?

    When you have selected the relevent faces with the geometry editor, you shall create surface: Geometry Assignment > Create Surface from Selected.
