translucency map refusing to work? [iray]

Hello all,

I have a little issue with Queen Cobra's textures ( http://www.daz3d.com/queen-cobra-hd ): When I render it straight out of the box (load default G3F, apply texture, apply morph, or just load default Queen Cobra Character) using Iray material, the face is much lighter than the rest of the body. All the parameters are strictly identical, I can't even say I messed with anything as I just loaded G3F and applied the default iray mats!

I tried loading other iray textures set, and they work just fine. Only Queen Cobra seems to have this issue. Any help would be gladly appreciated.

This often the result of one of the map images having a different gamma setting than the others.  You will have go through all of them in the Surface pane.  Click on the image and in the pop-up select Image editor.

  • Ooookay... I finally managed to solve it, but it is a very odd issue... The settigs were correct, but for some reasons, Daz failed to properly load the translucency map. I copied the .jpg file, and in the surfaces tab, I manually replaced the image by the exact copy of the same image  - and it worked.

yeah I have this alot recently with the gamma set to 0.00 instead of 1.00 and I think I know why. Many strength maps have been saved as RGB instead of Grayscale and it makes me wonder why PA insist on use RGB when they are grayscale.
