Check again to be sure the HEAT plugin didn't get installed. That error sounds like what people reported with the HEAT plugin specifically.

It's been crashing a lot on Mac after updating it...

  • I have files - that never crashed - this is a new geekcom
    13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13620H   2.40 GHz
    32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)
    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
I'm crashing on anything that is a scene when I try to open it - even if I try to re install the 'enviornment' new - crashes -
dear daz3d - you pushed an unstable update - from the looks of it - fix it thanks

As a fun side effect it will not restart unless I restart the system

That's a symptom of an NVidia card failure.  The message is something to the effect that DAZ cannot restart because it doesn't have any OpenGL support.  This is because the OpenGL support just stopped working.  I've seen it several times with the recent NVidia Studio drivers.  It's nothing to do with DAZ of course.  I'm part way between suspecting my PSU is not beefy enough and that my quite recently purchased NVidia card is showing signs of lack of ISO-9000.

This release is unusable for me, constantly crashes.

Half the time Daz will just dissapear but sometimes it will crash and the whole PC reboots without warning and I lose anything else that was open too.

Never used HEAT so that's not the issue here. Rolled back from the latest Nvidia drivers to the previous one but the crashes are still happening.

Which driver version is that? Is Iray being used at the time? Unfortunately a system restart is not going to be daz Studio alone - it may be a driver issue, or it may be a hardware issue.

It was the latest (565.90) but I rolled back to 561.09 which worked fine in the previous version of Daz but I'm still getting crashes with this version.

No, Iray wasn't being used for the last crash, I was simply adjusting a paramater of a spotlight.  I've had crashes during rendering but others when I'm just modifying a scene.

It's happening with different scenes, different characters. All seems pretty random.  Sometimes I'll get a laggy slowdown just prior to a crash but othertimes not.

Never had any issues with the previous version of Daz which I used a lot with the same hardware as I'm using now.

Using which DrawStyle in the Viewport?

    Usually filament, occasionally Texture Shaded.

I installed that version (Studio driver of course) yesterday and it crashed overnight; pretty much nothing was running on the computer, certainly not DAZ, possible it was Chrome which caused the crash.  I can see all this afterwards because I use the card (a GTX 4090) headless, so TechGPUZ shows me that the NVidia driver has gone AWOL.

OK. Do you ever get a crash report, telling you what module caused the issue? Do you get any kind of Windows crash report (Whatever-colour screen of death) with a stop code on the system crashes?

When Daz crashes the whole PC I don't get a screen of death, it just shuts down as if I've hit the power button and reboots.

The only thing I've found regarding the crashes is a file in C:\Users\*User*\AppData\Local\CrashDumps which is called DAZStudio.exe.14024.dmp and is 139MB

There is nothing of significance in the Daz log file when it crashes.

Thought I'd give an update to this thread just in-case the information is of use to anyone..

After posting my first comment on this thread I decided (mainly out of frustration) to disable some of the plugins I don't use.
After disabling the plugins I haven't had a single crash in two days.
I'm not suggesting any of the disabled plugins were the root cause of the crashes but there does seem to be a link.
    The plugins I disabled:
    aniMate 2
    Face Transfer
    Face Transfer 2
    ManFriday's Mesh Grabber
    ManFriday's Mesh Grabber Rotations Add-On

(Disabled the last two since there are newer versions included with Premier)

Firstly analyze dump file with WinDbg

It may give you some clues...
