Problem with K4 Kids

TauAlphaCTauAlphaC Posts: 84

I just purchased The Kids 4 Complete, Bambini Pajamas, Winter Fun for Kids 4, Winter Warmth, Hollie for K4, Winter Berry, DS Dynamic jeans and skirt for K4 and Poser Dynamic skinnly jeans for K4.  Trying to make some winter kid scenes.

I am having a hard time making all the stuff work and finding K4 Kids.  I found one, as in the pics below.  But it seems it is in the Content Library.  The PJ's like in the first two pics, they were in Poser>Figures as K4 Bambini.  And then I finally found the PJ material in Poser>Pose as MAT K4 Bambini Clothing.  Any ideas as to where all the other kids are?  Also, I got some clothing on, but cannot seem to find the materials, as in photo 5.  Any ideas as to what those blue things are in photo 3 & 4?  It only happens with that coat.  ANY HELP ON HOW TO FIND THE ABOVE STUFF, AND HOW TO GET IT ALL TO WORK ~ WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL.

Sorry am new to DAZ.

Almost all the K4 stuff will be found in the Poser formats section of the Content Library, not Smart Content.  And yes, the materials will be somewhere in the Pose folder (most likely).

The little blue things are 'handles' to help pose the coat.

The Poser Dynamic items (the skinny jeans) aren't useful in Studio, the DS Dynamic ones are what you need.

Thank you.  Do you know where I would find the kids 4 "actors"?  I found the one figure, but I cannot remember where.  Duh, I know silly.  They are hidden somewhere.  Not easy to find as in Smart Content.

Characters will be in Poses too. You'll usually have and "INJ" pose to apply the morphs, "REM" poses to remove them, and "MAT" poses for the textures.

Also all the morph dials for the figure will be found in the "Parameters" tab, the "shaping" tab did not exist when Kids 4 were created.

Poser-format content is basically organized that way:

    - "Figures" library contains items which have a skeleton (.cr2 files). So for example base figures, conforming clothes, sets with moving parts, or conforming hair

    - "Poses" library contains presets (.pz2). So you'll find poses, morph injections, and .pz2 material poses

    - "Materials" library contains presets made for Poser's material room, which will be .mc6 or .mt5.  You usually won't use those in DS.

    - "Props" is for items which don't have a skeleton (.pp2 files), like for example a sword, a building without moving parts ....

    - "Hair" is a special category for hair without moving parts (.hr2). They're basically props intended to be parented to the head, but they're located in a separate library as Poser used to treat them a bit differently from regular props (I think it did parent them to the head automatically)

Thanks Lena, all your information is really helping me figure this out.

Do you know by any chance why the hat and Sally Mae hair won't fit right?  Also when I put a pose on the Kid 4, the hands go into body.  Thanks again.

MJC1016 do you know how to turn off the coat 'handles'??

Somewhere in the materials should be a 'handles off' preset.  If that isn't findable, you can set the surface opacity on them to 0%.   Some of them are able to be turned off by clicking the 'eye' next to them (in the Scene tab...if they show up there).

The problem is, that there is no uniform way to do it...it's almost as if each item that has them does it slightly (to completely) different than every thing else.

Fitting hair under a hat usually requires quite a bit of playing with morphs or Deformers, unless the hat has been designed specifically for this hair.

As for the poses, is that a K4 pose, and are you using the default K4 or did you apply a character or morphs? If you're not using the default K4 then you will probably have to adjust the pose a bit.

  • Does anyone know why the clothes won't fit, they were made for Kids 4.  Also why the Duke Hair won't fit?  Thanks.

I finally rendered the hat separate, and applied it in Photoshop.  For the life of me, I could not get it to go on the hair.
