Windows 7 to Windows 10 Free Update - DAZ Programs Broken
I have a 64-bit I7 Windows PC. I have lots of graphic applications. MS is constantly pushing DLLs and stuff for Windows 10. At some point, all my DAZ apps (except Bryce 7!) stopped working. No splash screen at all, or crash before final init. This includes the Install Manager! The old Content Manager is still running as a service, I think.
I tried the Windows 10 Free Update, that killed Adobe Photoshop CC, Corel Draw 2010, and Blender. I reverted to Windows 10 and nothing got fixed. I tried fixing/replacing VC++ redistributables, no change. Interestingly, most other apps are fine, including Steam and various games. I did update my Wacom Intos4 driver, I will try to find the original version of that.
Does anyone know what would cause these problems? I'm worried about having to do a full reinstall from my Windows 7 OEM disk! I have LOTS of DAZ and other programs, so this will not be trivial.
Is information about DLL and other dependancies for DAZ programs available? Is there information about uninstalling/reinstalling from scratch?
My workflow is totaly broken!

I had updated to windows 10 on my laptop and had no issues with Daz, but is was 4.7 version I think.
For the installation manager, I would not know, but when I want to come back to my "factory settings" for Daz Studio, I generally back up (one never knows) the "User/Application Data (or Appdata)/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Daz Studio 4/" and then deleted it. Then when I restarted DS, sometimes it helped me coming back to normal when I crashed on splash screens. This won't solve the issue if the problem is in windows registry, but it may help if it is in the "Roaming".
I just install Blender 2.78b on a win 10 build Tuesday and it ran without incident. Where does your's fail?
You can revert back to Win 7 if it is less than 30 days since the Win 10 install. Go to Settings - then Update and Security - then Recovery. You should see go back to prior OS in there. Hope that helps, Your install went south on you obviously.
I upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 with no issues, including both Adobe CC products and Daz Studio 4.8. Have you considered removing and reinstalling CC and Daz? Shouldn't have been necessary, but the 7 -> 10 migration does a lot of heavy lifting so it's definitely possible third party apps might need to be reinstalled.
I installed 32 bit CS2 on my win 10 box and danged if I aint-a-hornswaggled, it runs!
Thought I'd update my status ...
I liked Windows 10, but reverted to Windows 7 successfully. Still in some kind of Windows DLL hell though. All of my graphics applications except Bryce and Adobe Lightroom work. I reinstalled Photoshop CC 2015, and upgraded to Lightroom CC 2015. Lightroom still works, Photoshop does not. Been reinstalling lots of Visual C++ runtimes and using other Windows admin tools, nothing works. Tried reinstalling Blender 2.76b, fails at the GUI initailization point. Installed the latest GIMP 2, same thing.
As before, everything else works. Productivity apps, programming tools, and games (mostly Steam: Portal 2, Call of Duty, etc.). I guess I'll work with Bryce some more, but will otherwise be using Blender and GIMP on Linux. Luckily, I'm set up for dual booting.
So, I'm out of the DAZ business for a while, since the DAZ Install Manager does not start at all, nor does the DAZ3DIM_1.1.0.41_Win32.exe installer. I am a 40 year app development professional, but Windows and Microsoft are impenetrable, and nobody technical at DAZ has responded, so I'm taking a break until the new year, I guess.
Speaking of Microsoft, I live only 5 or 10 miles from Redmond, and will be looking for technical help around here. In fact the Blender users group meets real near the MS campus, lots of tech types attending. So wish me luck in the new year, and I'll report any status then.
Kidding about being able to stay away from DAZ! The Platinum Club holiday freebees and the fine work with Genesis and new renderers are too compelling.
Thought I'd update my status here in 5-year old Windows PC land, since I found an existing version of Carrara 6 Pro that works! The downside is that it is slow, and missing support for all of that good new stuff. The upside is that I have a mesh modeler again, and I have a lot more traditional Poser-compatible content (and imported/created OBJ) than the newer DAZ-native content. And, besides Lightroom CC 1015, I found another working photo program (ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6, free with my printer).
So that's all good. I'm back in business in Windows 7 while I figure out how to fix the comprehensive graphics problem, whatever that is. Won't be upgrading to Windows 10 this year though, I think. (Saving for a new PC, laptop format for portability.)
Also, making progress with Ubuntu on a separate boot partition. Upgrading from "Karmic Koala" and Blender 2.49a there, and adding GIMP and a 2-D vector app or too. So I'll be able to participate in those communities too. Yes, there is life after retirement!
