Simple Q what is HID? I see the term used on recent characters like G9 but don't understand what it is. Is it a a step up from "HD" ? please someone explain basically if possible.

Vendors use a prefix of their choosing to avoid character name collisions. So usually when you buy a character of HID3D the name of the character has HID as a prefix.

Moved to the Commons as it is not actually a Daz Studio question, since the prefix is just an artist identifier rather than designating a feature.

To build up on markusmatern's excellent explanation, many artists add prefixes to their creations. VYK for Vyktohria, SY for Sickleyield, CJ for Colm Jackson, FPE for the duo of FenixPhoenix and Esid etc. Not only it helps to avoid duplicates in the store, but it also helps customers identify creators at a glance. Many artists have specific styles, so if you're looking for a female model in your library and you want something in Colm Jackson's style, it's easy to identify with the prefix there.
