mcjCornerWall : New Morphing Poser Prop Freebie !

there's 7 morphs to adjust everything

one of the goals was to have "welded" corners, because when using separate Planes,

it's hard to keep it "air-tight" and even when your planes meet perfectly, the renders may let light through

---

I dont know if the earlier versions of DS4.5 $.8 have it, but the wood and stucco shaders in my deonstration scenes are in

My DAZ 3D Library\Shader Presets\Iray\NVIDIA MDL Examples

    Thanks for this.

(Just a small point: I had to spin the wall prop 180 degrees on the Y-axis to see the correct side.)

    welcome

yes the load-time orientation is a bit annoying

i found it after creating the morphs

it was part of a scene and Aiko was wearing a static dress, she couldn't move an inch from that side of the wall

if i spin the  .obj geometry 180 degrees i guess it would invert the morphs

.... well ... ok i'll make a new version and announce it here when ready

i think i'll make it be a different prop with a different name to avoid issues with saved scenes ( and Daz Studio data caches )

also i'd like a version with subD molding/baseboard

No need to go to all that trouble on my behalf.

When a nice prop like this one is free, I'm quite willing to spin it around. smiley

    ok but but but

if you want a quick DIY fix

open Runtime\libraries\props\mcasual\mcjCornerWall.pp2 in notepad or wordpad

around line 145 you will find a section that reads

    		rotateY yRotate			{			name Y Rotate			initValue 0			hidden 0			forceLimits 0			min -100000			max 100000			trackingScale 1			keys				{				static  0				k 0 0				}			interpStyleLocked 0			}

     change it to

    		rotateY yRotate			{			name Y Rotate			initValue 180			hidden 0			forceLimits 0			min -100000			max 100000			trackingScale 1			keys				{				static  0				k 0 180				}			interpStyleLocked 0			}

    Fantastic! Great trick. Thanks.

I understand the change to initVal, but what's the "k 0 180" line doing if you don't mind me asking?

  • mCasualmCasual Posts: 4,607

the K lines are animation keys

    so k 0 180

means YRotate gets a keyframed value of 180 at frame 0

i tried with just the initVal ... but since we had k 0 0, this was not enough

the initVal 180 does insure that if you do a "Zero Transforms" or a "Zero Selected item" Y Rotate will be set to 180

     Welcome, Happy Holidays !

i think since you messaged here you'll be notified when i post upfates here

for instance i may add wall-crown and a baseboard prop

with the same morphs as the wall, this way you can copy and paste the wall settings and everything will fit

So the UV mesh flows around corners? That may solve some basic issues I've had with walls and corners... heh.

Ok. This is great. I will wait for update :). Might be very useful. Now I need to download and try that script for elevation ground. I really need to learn to use it and other things :). Thank You.

as promised an iRay Render, though it's the original wall prop ... dont know if i subD'd the molding

in fact i should try to subD the wall and see if it survives subD ... yes it does ... as long as you set the prop's subD tweakings correctly, else the walls wont render at all when dubD'd

    ...

there's also the mcjWarp plugin, which is more complicated to use but lets you 3d-sculpt with your mouse

i didnt try it recently though so i cant say if it still works with DS4.8
