DS 21 shutting down for no reason.

For some reason, I am having an issue where DS is crashing, just poof gone. Sometimes it's happened mid render, other times when I am setting stuff up. I don't think it's a memory issue because the scenes are not that huge. never happened before. I suppose I can reinstall the program or upgrade to the latest, and deal with the video cards and all of that, but wondering if anyone has suggestions on what might be causing it.
Oh, and could it be that the hard drive is too full?
