Where is Genesis 3 Female?

According to the notes I can find, it should be instaled along with the newest version of DAZ (all done through the installer program)

I can't find any sign of G3F.

The male one is about, but apparently there's meant to be a female version too.

Also, where is the search function for the forum? (and while I'm venting. what the hell happened to my username?)

Genesis 3 female is bundled with DS, but there are separate product files for DS and for Genesis, Genesis 2 Female, Genesis 2 Male, Genesis 3 Female and Genesis 3 Male Starter Essentials, so check that you installed both the male and female sets.

Genesis 3 Female and Genesis 3 Male starter essentials are seperate downloads. If you aren't using DIM, go to your Product Library and filter on the name.

    I am using the DIM.

The male one auto-installed, but I'm having no luck finding where to download the female... I tried simply downloading DAZ again, but that just gave me the male one and a 'mimic'... I can't find a straight download for Genesis 3 Female in the store without wading through pages and pages of 'compatable with' items.

It's part of DAZ Studio 4.8 pro  - Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials SKU 21630 and Genesis 3 Male Starter Essentials, also SKU 21630; they should both show up in DIM unless you have them hidden for some reason - you might try clicking on 'show hidden'. The fastest way to find them in the product library is to filter on "Studio 4.8 Pro' - they'll be listed at the bottom of the page as links.

Try looking at your product items in your account and see if it got put in with the rest of the stuff for daz 4.8

    Got it!

I didn't know how the new system laid it out (I'm not around here all that often these days... hence not knowing how to search the forums anymore).

Genesis 3 Female Starter wasn't downloading with the rest of the package. Was able to find it there... However, when I click on Download, it does not seem to do anything in the DIM!

I have the most recent DIM version, but when I try to download the "Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials" product, it just makes the DIM run a search for a SKU number.

    Am I missing something obvious?

(screenshots attached. There is no Genesis 3 female in the regular list)

OK - but does it show up if you click on 'Display Hidden'? That's the only thing I can think of at this point.

Did you look at the Ready to Install tab?  Some things don't install. I've found issues with the Genesis "essentials" packages myself.  You can look at the log if they're in there.  If so, I would click on the Install button and then when it fails, look at the log and go all the way to the bottom to see the last entries.  They usually explain the reason for fail. Often they get hung up on a certain file.  I have found that sometimes, especially if you've upgraded your system, some files are marked as Read Only.  And sometimes even changeing that setting doesn't fix it.  I just delete all the related files in that folder and then try again, because if one failed, the others in that folder will also likely cause a failure.

Sorry, I saw that screen shot after my last reply.  Obviously nothing is in the Ready to Install tab.  Namffuak had a good suggestion.

  • Hi Everyone, Merry Time of Year.

Just downloaded the gen3 model package thingy, I think it just went where it was supposed to go.

I haven't tried to use it yet, so forgive me if I get this wrong, but it does depend on what you set on your install package manager, right?

I also had the hassle of having to restore win8,after and it screwed with most of my setups.

Could someone please help me with understanding where my assets are, and the distinction between

trying to back them up and depositing them according to the install packages wishes ....

I always fid that I have duplicate stored files?

How did you install your products, using DIM (DAZ Install Manager)?    If so, it puts your content by default into : C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library unless of course, you change that path inside DIM.   Did you leave it at the defaults?

No matter what operating system or version of DAZ Studio, DS still needs o know where the content is, so that it can display it for you in the Content Library pane.   Go to Edit > Preferemnces > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and enter the installed content path for BOTH DAZ Studio Formats AND Poser Formats.   That should allow DS to find the library folder, and display your content.

Lets leave the backup for the moment untill we find out if your content is installed properly.

aw man do I feel stupid!

For some reason, they were hidden!

I have no idea why because only time I hid anything was before G2 came out :S the Instal manager and I didn't get on for a long while and I just used regular instalations, or moved them to my content folder manually (I have a few thousand products with no metadata, so the feature is a little lost on me so far)

Thank you all for putting up with my ignorance... I can't believe I missed that tick-box!

Then again... I have nearly 300 items hidden because they were already installed before i got DIM :S

(AND AFTER ALL THAT! It fails to instal after 72%!)

  • Just a last-minute heads-up.

Ran the DIM as admin and it instaled OK!

    Finally got it all working!

I can see the appeal, but I have a lot of work to try and transfer my morphs :S
