Video card memory questions
I have a Nvidia GeForce GTX960 in my computer with 2 Gb memory on it, it's fast enough for Iray renders with DS4.8, but in more crowded renders i sometimes bump into the memory limit (Rendering crashes before the first iteration finishes, i guess that's as much of an "insufficient GPU memory"-error as i'm going to get), since plopping down several hundred euros for a new video card (And knowing my luck, a new power supply too) is too much for me to spend on a hobby, i have a few questions about Daz studio and GPU memory:
- Is there any way to see or determine how much memory a certain scene will require to render?
- How effective is optimizing for memory use instead of the default speed? Does it give a lot more "breathing room"?
- Are there changes in the upcoming version 4.9 of Daz Studio that affect GPU memory use for Iray renders?

Question 1: I'd also like to know, because I only have the vaguest clue
Question 2: not really, it can help a little
Question 3: I'm pretty sure the answer here is no
I don't think it should lead to crashing though... when I am out of memory it just falls back to CPU only rendering. I think you might want to look into that crashing, it might be something more serious. I've heard there are some materials that cause that.
