Can't save file

This should be an easy one, 'cause I must be doing something pretty simple wrong.
When I save a scene, quit DS and double-click the .duf file to reopen it, the Viewport comes up empty. Nothing in the Scene tab, nothing under "Select an Item". It doesn't matter whether I save to my hard drive or an external drive. When I open on the .duf file I get no objects, no figures, no props, nothing, just a blank ground grid, like a new scene. Works the same way if I right-click and "Open With DAZStudio.app".
Oddly enough, I can open the populated .duf file using File>Open Recent, but not by double-clicking the .duf file itself.
DS 4.8.0.59 Pro 64-bit on Mac
Thanks in advance,
Andy

Ah, so it's not saving but opening DS via a saved file that is the issue. That does sound familiar as an issue, but I can't recall if there's a work-around or a fix in 4.9 - I think it is a Mac-specific thing, though I never use that method for opening anyway. I just checked the Changelog http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/change_log#private_channel and I don't immediately see any mention of the issue or a fix.
Thanks for the reply. I can also open the saved scene from the Unassigned category in Smart Content. You write that you never use that method for opening. What method do you use for opening saved scenes?
I almost always open DS first, then File>Open, or File>Recent Files, or I find them in the Content Library.
Great, thanks.
I'm having the same problem. I can't open files and I also can't export. It goes through the motions of selecting where to export it to but then simply doesn't. So confused/frustrated.
