I find funny how some anti-AI people can be, rejecting it entirely not matter how it is used. And that's the thing, as with any other tool it can be used wrongly. I don't see anyone banning hammers and I'd bet it's a really popular "crime of passion" weapon. Personally, I've been using my own local installation of Stable Diffusion to generate scenes and characters for inspiration and references. Heck, even when I have a somewhat clear idea for a character I can make a god-awful drawing of it and refine it there into something usable. It's much quicker than aimlessly trying out skins and morphs, specially when you have so many. So I'm kind of interested in Daz AI since it's even more fine tuned to Daz stuff, I haven't tried it out yet but I imagine I could generate quickly images with stuff I already own, test combinations quickly and then use them as references when making them in Daz, making the process faster.

I'll try it out soon and then decide if it works well enough for getting a sub and integrating it into my workflow. Being online does have its issues but also means you can use it while using Daz since you are not using your own card.

Everyone has their own ideas on AI and also on their workflow using it. I have tried AI from the early days and what kept me from using it was the legality of it drawing from copyrighted works, but it's not going away and now that DAZ has it, i might as well find a use for it. Personally, I have been playing with the DAZ AI and while it can create some good images, the details are very lacking and you can forget about anything non organic and it being structured correctly. I was trying to do a WW2 scene with soldiers and a Willys jeep and after 50+ generated images, not a single one depicted the jeep correctly no matter what settings I used. I tried it in 4 other AI apps and got much better results in all of them.

I honestly think the best use of AI with Daz Studio will be an AI image enhancer  (hopefully the image to image option coming) where you create your render and then run it thru an enhancer to make it more realistic, better eyes, creases and folds in cloth, etc. Here is an example with G9

Wow! That's amazing, not to mention incredibly useful to use AI as a tool for that.

  • Looks really awesome!

Personally I don't do that with renders because I'm afraid it won't be consistent enough to use it for stories and such where I use the same characters over and over. Might try it out a bit later. And well, that's the thing, I don't really need AI images being perfect, heck, I often don't even care when there are very serious anatomical issues, etc, nor I need perfect control on where is everything in the scene, since I just use it for inspiration and reference that kind of issues won't translate into my work in Daz. Some horrible images can still sometimes help me with the overall image composition, things like that. Basically it helps me better visualize my ideas instead of taking much longer moving around cameras, lights ,etc, until I get something something I like. Daz AI using a LoRA specifically trained with Daz stuff might be actually helpful making the "translation" easier. (for example, not having to be searching through my library to find close enough clothes, etc).

That there is a lot of trial and error in this phase is clear and understandable. Okay, then you just make the next attempt. Sometimes the results are also very funny. It is only annoying if an otherwise perfect picture is messed up by these distortions.

That's when the feature known as "in-painting" is useful. I don't think the current beta of Daz AI has that feature but I'm sure they'll be adding it since it's part of most other image generators.

With in-painting you can specify an area of the rendering, basically masking it off, and the computer will re-generate just that area leaving the rest of the image untouched. For fixing up distorted limbs etc you would use the same prompt again so it's in the same style and have the computer create a small batch of variations. Hopefully one of those will look more normal. Sort of auto-retouching an image.

Instead of using the same prompt, you could also use a modified one to, for example, completely replace a subject in a rendering, e.g. replacing an adorable fluffy kitten with an equally adorable but not as fluffy dragon. There are several parameters you can tweak to control things like how it blends into the original image.

If you read up on in-painting you'll probably come across "out-painting" which is basically an inverse mask. Everything outside of the specified area is regenerated. So for example that adorable fluffy kitten is no longer in a sunny meadow but rather a flaming hellscape.

Another tool to experiment with! smiley

I really like what the AI image enhancer has done. That's what I want for AI Studio. I want to be able to render my own scene in DAZ Studio, even save it out, and then upload the image to AI Studio and let the enhancement take effect.

Incredible work! Would you mind sharing what you used for the AI enhancement? I'm really interested in trying it out myself.

I'm a bit late to the AI party. I just started hands on with AI art generation today. It's quite interesting, but it definitely takes some knowledge to craft your prompts to generate more or less the results you want. I can definitely see the advantages of using AI to enhance renders!

That would be indeed useful, and once DAZ anounced some kind of AI, I was hoping for something.
Having AI in browser or a cloud is a non-starter.
Would be nice to have a post AI realism filter in the render settings right with the Post Denoiser.

for those interested, most AI apps and even image editors have upscaling, but a few also use AI along with the upscaling. I have tried many, but found Krea to give the best results https://www.krea.ai/home

It has a section for upscaling with AI which is what I used on this image and my other renders. When you load a render or image, it usually will use AI to select the prompts, but best to double check them. Then there is a slider for how much AI you want and a slider for how faithful you want it to stay with the orginal image, or not. Then there is a slider for clarity. I find for realism, 23 or less works best.

There is also a generate tab also where you can load an image or render and then select style and amount of AI you want. It's quite a powerful AI tool. It has a limited free option, but I pay the $8 a month and have yet to run out of time to use it.

It also works great with Daz AI Studio since Daz AI Studio is very lacking in detail, especially at full prompt strength. This image was created in Daz AI Studio and then the second one was upscaled and enhanced with Krea

Wow, I think this is your most impressive example so far. Thanks for the link. I'll try a few other free options first (The AI plugin for Krita may be an option), but the quality your getting from Krea is outstanding. The down side is it would seriously eat into my DAZ budget. The upside is that it might really improve the DAZ content that isn't quite up to the detail standard I like, making a lot of things usable.

Thanks for sharing, it's really helpful the see real world examples!!

I had used face enhancement with upscaling software before for pictures so low resolution that the face isn't clear. But I hadn't thought about using it to enhance CG characters whose face wasn't real in the first place. This might solve one of the biggest problems with making the CG characters convincing.

Thanks for the samples! It looks like the AI for Krista can do a very good job of enhancing renders. I've watched a couple of videos on it and it definitely has some impressive capabilities for more control over image creation with infill tools similar to commercial options. It definitely looks like it's worth the effort to install ComfyUI and the plugin, which looks fairly straightforward.

If you install Krita AI, also check out civitai.com for additional checkpoints/loras/embeddings that might be of interest to you.

Do a search for your favourite subject eg Steampunk, cars, SciFi, Science Fiction, Alien, Building, Landscape etc
