1973 Station Wagon: Wheels are not Round - SOLVED

mwokeemwokee Posts: 1,275

When I render the 1973 Station Wagon, the wheels come out as a many-sided polygon instead of round. What am I doing wrong or need to do for this?

Thanks

UPDATE: I sent in a support ticket and the problem was fixed, installed the update and everything was good.

Check the "smoothing" level on the surface tab.

There is a SMOOTH property and it's set to ON. I've been playing with settings, I really don't know where to look. I'm having the same issue with Classic Monster too.

    Thanks for any help.

Try adding a sub-d to it; edit>object> something - can't look at the moment; same place as would add smoothing if it wasn't already one. If it already has it, try increasing, but be careful.

Thanks, I know about subd but it's already set. How to you increase? I see settings for ANGLE and ROUND CORNERS RADIUS, they seem to be related but changing those doesn't do much or makes things worse. Not sure what else to change.

There will be render and view/display options; keep view at one, but try increasing the render to two. You can get lag with view subd and it has no effect on the rendering.

There is a RENDERING QUALITY option under the RENDER SETTINGS tab. Is that the one to change? It has no effect when I do. I'm not familiar with the software so it helps when there are more details of what I should be looking at.

    Thanks

? ... uh, no ... not that one ... on the Surface Tab, it's not an on/off thing, it's a percentage dial ... usually comes in about 89%.

edit to add: checked my files and no I don't own this one. Ruphuss may have the best answer if the model is not as polished as you want.

On the SURFACE TAB there is SMOOTH only to be On/Off. There is no percentage option. Unless someone out there knows something, in the meantime I created a ticket with Support. There is no real reason to not have round tires.

We'll get there ... Number 80 Smooth ... yes there's an on/off ... NEVER once have I ever turned it off so like just totally forgot about that option.

But right underneath it, connected Number 80 is the ANGLE ... set at 89.90.

And yes, there is no reason to not have round tires, hopefully if it can't be fixed, you can get a store credit and try from another PA's store here.

ANGLE is set to 89.90 already. Played with the settings, doesn't help.

    It's gotta be SOMETHING...

Yeah, but not at the customer's end ;-)

A lot of the older models are really older models, great in their hay day ... but a lot has changed since then.

.... looked up some other station wagon models sold elsewhere, only about $75 American. They said they were smoothed.

That wagon has a SKU in the 22xxx range...so it's not that old.
