Item crashes Daz with Iray, works flawlessly with OpenGL

Hello,

I am encountering a weird bug with an item of clothing. Every time I try to render it in Iray, Daz freezes and my computer turns all laggy. I tried rendering the same item in OpenGL, and it worked just fine. Since this item comes for both G2F and G3F, I loaded the G3F version instead of G2F and everything works flawlessly. The other items of the same outfit are working fine, it is just a single piece of clothing which causes my computer to get all slow and noisy.

More details:

- The rendering windows stays white, instead of displaying the casual checkerboard as I am rendering a .png on transparent background.
- In the Windows task manager (ctrl-alt-supr, chose start task manager), under the processes tab, the memory used by DazStudio.exe starts raising dramatically when I launch a render with this item, going into several GB until it have sucked dry all the remaining RAM.
- I have changed the textures/shaders on the item, but it keeps crashing.
- Daz doesn't technically "crashes", it just stops responding after a few minutes and stays like this for dozens of minutes, with the CPU working hard but being unable to produce anything.

I suspect the issue would be more mesh-related than material-related, but cannot be sure...

I have tried clearing the DSON cache files, but it did nothing.

Have anyone encountered a similar problem, or do you have possible suggestions to make it work?

Does it render without crash in 4.9? There are several items in the store that crash when rendered in Iray in 4.8, due to an NVIDIA Iray bug which is corrected in 4.9.

  • My system specs are the following:

    Win 7 64 bits
    6 Gb RAM
    Intel Core I7 - 2.2 ghz
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M

And no, I haven't installed 4.9 yet. I'll try to update it, and see if it fixes the problem.
