frustrating difficulty

I've played around with Daz3d a few times, but just purchased a new package, the fae realms for victoria 4, to play around with.  first off, it was difficult to find the pieces for this package, once they were loaded, and secondly, the thing I can't deal with, is that they refuse to load on my victoria 4 model, either with or without the morph possibility added.  Nothing I do seems to enable them to load to the model.  I don't know what I"m doing wrong.  Other clothing models attach, but these won't.  Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?  When I double click on the items, they do nothing.  right click and hit load, again, nothing..it's like nothing at all happens.  I'm not sure what's wrong.

I don't have this set, but I'll try to help out.

I think you have found the materials presets. They look just like the clothes, but they are just the presets to change the colors and shapes of the clothes but don't actually load the clothes.

This one looks to be a bit older, so it's probably going to be in the Poser Formats section.

Have a look in Poser Formats>My Daz 3D Library>Figures to see if there is an entery for fae realms in there.Figures is where the clothes will be.

I tried to look up the file list so I could be more help, but there doesn't seem to be a file list for this one

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/7958/start

If you still can't find them, we will need to get a list of the files that the product installed so we can find them.

To do that, you right click the product in DIM on the "Installed" tab and select "Show installed files".This will show a list of where everything was put.

    hope this helps

I found the read me page :)

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/azproduct/7958

it says that the clothes are in "Daz Studio Foramts>My Daz 3D Library>People>Victoria 4>Clothes"

Make sure you have V4 selected in the Scene tab, then double click the clothes to fit them to her.Sometimes that doesn't work and you need to right click the clothes in the "Scene" tab and select "fit-to".On the fit-to menu select your V4 character and click accept. It should fit the clothes to her at that point.

  • The option fit-to scene never comes up, and this does not appear to be in texture (though I looked carefully to see if it could be a texture and not the image itself)..  I have taken a screenshot of both where I found the files, and where they are located on the computer (easy to get them both).  double clicking does not help, for whatever reason.  I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the data-set, to see if that helped.

The option fit-to scene never comes up,

It won't for a piece of V4 clothes. The Autofit dialog, which is what you're looking for, only works with Genesis figures: for all earlier figures you have to do it manually, using the fit-to parameter on the clothes.

and this does not appear to be in texture

Actually, it is — look more closely at the folder trail, and you'll see you aren't looking in the Poser Runtime folder (textures for Poser items are in the /Runtime/Libraries/Pose/ folder) you're looking at the D|S format materials scripts. These are supposed to be applied to the Poser-format clothes objects after you load them into your scene from the Poser Figures library folder.

The main problem is, you're dealing with a very old product, made for a very old figure, using a very old and no longer used file arrangement system. Everything used to be set up like this, in the early days of the first few versions of D|S. Nowadays, especially for clothes, almost all of them (the ones sold from DAZ, at least) are made for some type of Genesis figure, so they will all be in native D|S file format with no Poser files at all.
