I want the characters to talk.

I'm trying to get my characters to talk in Daz 3D Studio 4.22. How do I go about doing that?

If you eman lip-synching the 32 bit vrsion of Daz Studio has a version of Mimic built-in, though it is meant to be used with live speech and requires some lateral thinking to use with a recording as I recall. There is also https://www.daz3d.com/anilip-2 , though I think that is for text-to-speech. You will also need support files (.dmc for Mimic) to tell the code which morphs to use for which phonemes.

no it works with wav files

you need to add the configuration file for the figure you use

most are found in your library/general/mimic configuration files

not in the spot it browses to by default

Richard is thinking of the no longer available 64bit Mimic Live

So what do I do for the 64 bit version if Mimic is not available for it? What's the whole point of the 64 bit version if you can't add voice overs to your characters?

    @inkwormmedia

According to a post by Daz forum mod (years ago)
Daz inc. never owned the licensing to
re-compile the mimic software for 64 Bit.

This plugin is your least expensive option for 64 bit lipsync daz studio.
    https://www.daz3d.com/poserecorder

This one gets better results IMHO but is more expensive
    https://www.daz3d.com/anilip-2

there is also this third party option
    (Iphone required)
    https://www.facemotion3d.com/shop/

If you are using Genesis 9 installing the 32 bit version of Daz studio and using mimic is your cheapest option.

But there is this more expensive option in the daz store (Iphone required)
    https://www.daz3d.com/catalogsearch/result?q=face+mojo.

you install the 32bit as well

it doesn't take up much space and uses the same library

you just cannot run both the same time so you need to save your lipsync as a pose preset or scene subset on just the character or an aniblock if you have AniMate2

(probably not with HDmorphs etc dialled in as it is only 32bit so even if largeaddressaware going to be a bit limited, can dial it up afterwards in the 64bit when you complete your scene)
