DAZ shutting down my PC

Drogo NazhurDrogo Nazhur Posts: 1,112

Lately, I've noticed that while in the DAZ editor, while doing edits, the computer will do a hard shut down as if the plug was suddenly pulled. It's a laptop with a fully charged battery and it doesn't do a shutdown. It completely goes off. Anyone else experiencing this.

NOTE: I am running the latest release of DAZ & Windows.

What "edits"? This is almost certainly a driver or hardware (e.g. heating or power) issue, knowing what you are doing at the time may indicate which (or that it is something else).

I was setting morphs (waist size, hip size, etc.). The first time it happened with G8F. The second time it happened with G3M. Internal fan was running both times. It didn't freeze. It just completely powered off. As if the battery wasn't there and the plug was pulled. I unplugged it half an hour ago and have been running on battery power to make sure the battery is working and no issues. It's just strange that it completely shut down. Both times while using DAZ.

seting in Parameters? If they were zero initially (if you were not adjusting an already aplied non-zero value) then the actual shape data would have been loaded from disc at that point, though why a disc access could cause a shut down I don't know (I would suggest making sure you have an up-to-date back-up, though), and of course the shape data would need updating and the screen redrawing.

Check the Windows Event Viewer for any critical events, if the OS had time to log the error, it will show up.

I don't know if they still make this program but I use something called Whocrashed to eaily check what caused a crash. As long as dump files are enabled, it can read it and tell you if it was likely a hardware or software related crash.

Have the same issue now and then on my desktop. Came with Daz 4.22.

It happens at various places and with various products.

    I hope it's gone with 4.23.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a similiar problem but I am glad that I am not alone.

when i get this, it's usually because i haven't updated my video card in a while. updating it usually stops it from happening.

might not be your issue, but i found it was mine every time daz started doing this to me...

If you watch the ChangeLog for each version of DS release or update, most of the time it says it requires the lastest NVIDIA driver update if the change was Iray based.

The HEAT plug-in was released very close to the 4.22 General release, and did have memory issues - it has had several updates since http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/93652/start

I installed and uninstalled it, even removed the artefacts manually. And my Nvidia and Windows 11 is up to date.

There are good and bad Daz releases.

Daz 4.22 is not a good one.

People have had issues wit some recent drivers, sometimes it is beast to roll back to the minimum required version, or near to.

Some people run other programs on their computers as well, not only Daz.

Yes, and then that can be a trade-off or an exercise in switching. nevertheless,,using the latest driver can be a cause of issues rather than a solution.
