DAZ Executable format (exe) filenames

Hello all,

I would like to learn more about the filename structure of daz exe content.

From my understanding they have this format

12345_ProductName_1.0_trx.exe

but sometimes _trx is replaced by _dpc or _ds, what these means?

Seems that many files are also named

ps_ab12345b_ProductName.exe

What is ab12345b ? Is not matching the DAZ SKU from my understanding.

What do you have with the old ps_ac style numbers? They had been dropped well before you became a member.

Hello Richard,

I don't have any product with the ps_ prefix, but some users asked me if I can support them in the app I'm developing. So I was looking for a way to converter the ps_ number to a SKU, to have everything consistent. From my understanding there is no automatic way to do this, but there was a cross reference list done some time ago that can help me, do you have it by any chance?

I see. There isn't an auto-conversion/mapping, they were entirely separate systems (the old one was application - e.g. ps for Poser or ca for Carrara), then the content type (pe fro people, for example) then a sequential(ish) number. The new system is just the SKU, folowed by an identifier for the content type in many cases (especially if a product has mutliple packages) and soemtimes a version indicatior```````````````````````````````````````````````````````.

I was just digging through one of my old backups looking for A3's Whisper outfit (very old DAZ freebie), and the backup is full of these old installers.

_trx is Genesis 1 content and predates DIM.

_ds is DS only files, mostly MAT or pose presets (ds/dsa) but there were some with props as well.

_dpc I believe is poser formats, possibly with DS presets.

As for the ps_ac iirc those numbers were the SKU back when the files were made, but numbers have been chopped and changed so many times over the years that they probably aren't even close to being right now, especially not with the lower numbers.
