    That is certainly the case for My Fair Lady.   Pygmalion,  

     

    I would be interested to know which greek myth aligns with Frankenstein.   [edi]  quick search  Modern Prometheus,  from the Doctor Frank perspective.

    My fair lady is from Geoirge Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, which has obvious references to the Greek myth but isn't really a retelling.

    It bears so little similarity to the actual story of Prometheus that the title honestly feels a little misguided unless it's just meant to invoke the loose theme of "forbidden knowledge".

    well I certainly never knew of the connection in spite of an interest in both the classical works and literature in general

    There is a lot of creative works that are loosely based on works that came before it. That is the thing with creation,  it has a voracious appetite.

    I'm having to work at it ... too many years in the goth scene for me. My music library consists of dirge in every possible flavor.

    My problem is when I got one of those streaming music services, all of a sudden I got to try music I never would have spent money on or taken the time to listen to. So I ended up with these playlists of music I like that don't make any sense. Various genres, various decades, big stars and people nobody has heard of, all together. It's really nice.
