Anatomical elements or no anatomical elements?
Hey all, Wanted to pose a question to the masses out there and ask... Anatomical elements or no anatomical elements?
Long story short....
Would you be more inclined to pass on a character if it did NOT come with an Anatomical elements material preset?
Short story long....
I've kind of been under the impression that the people who would "need" this are most likely using one of the 3rd party products like Golden Palace, and I've always been just a bit curious how important it was for me to be including mat presets for Daz's Anatomical elements.
Right now I'm working on re-creating some of my most recent G8 characters for G9, I've included the Anatomical elements on the first one, but before I get too far into the next ones I wanted to ask how important that are for you all.
Thanks
Loki

i would pass if I knew they were not included and with G9, both genders are wanted by some
I never use Daz's gens, so it's of no importance to me.
I've never even loaded any anatomical elements, although I've been considering it in an effort to get a realistic male bulge rather than the codpiece bulge morphs that are currently available.
But the people who use them seem to consider it a dealbreaker if the materials are not included, (some of them get quite testy about it). If I were you, I'd add them.
I definitely want them with G9 and given a choice between a character that provides them and one that doesn't, I would opt for the one that does.
Have no interest and no figure I've made has had them.
DAZ's Anatomical Elements are still the best, but they need extra work. My character is always fully equipped, even if there is no way to see it.
I just don't like it, when a character I am using is incomplete.
For females I use 3rd party product that makes matching materials on the fly, but for males I use Daz anatomy because the 3rd party alternatives do not provide easy solution to matching materials
Same here. All of my chracters are fully equipped, and I want the Mats for that. I still use the original Genesis figure, as a rule, and I always and only use skins that come wth gen mats.
I asked the friend who introduced me to Daz (DS2 so ancient history) about using the male gens for a bulge. He said that gens wouldn't work for that because it was impossible to get them to fit under clothing.
To answer the OP, having gens doesn't matter to me, since I don't do nudes. However, I am in favor of F/M gens (mesh and textures) being included - as long as the character is clearly an adult.
I'm definitely more inclined to purchase a complete adult character immediately, while an adult character without gens is way more probable to end up on my wishlist until an exceptional discount (80% or higher) pops up.
While there are alternative products like Golden Palace, which definitely offer more options and customizations, I find them less convenient in use, and several of the add-ons to them now have cross references to specific other add-ons, or even versions of add-ons (which are not automatically handled by DIM downloading them as required), making their use and installation even less convenient. There's also the thing that artist provided textures for gens are obviously more probable to be seamless. I seriously wouldn't mind customization add-ons for the Daz gens.
So, yeah, the inclusion gens is definitely something that plays a big part in my decision on purchasing a character or not.
I personally don't care if textures for anatomical elements are included as I don't render nude figures.
However many people who do render nudes see it as a dealbreaker if they're not included, so unless it's really a lot of extra work I would recommend including them.
Personally it's not important too me whether or not they are included. If I like the character I will buy it regardless. I don't have to load them if I don't want them.
I can't think of any situation I'd need anatomical parts for, so I'd add one more to "don't care about them" votes. That said, I don't mind if they're there.
I have never made a decision on purchasing a character based on if those textures are included. The face morph, the HD details, and the facial skin texture are the only influencers.
I personally use 3rd party but if I was a vendor, I would add them. Seen quite a few topics and post from here and other sites on this topic and it can be a deal breaker as to whether or not people will buy from that vendor again.
It never affects my choice of purchases.
I definitely prefer characters to be complete, and that includes having chest and genital textures for both masculine and feminine figures. Even if I don't need it today, I might do tomorrow.
I agree with @Zicon , though I also often use 3rd party solutions.
I cuss a little under my breath when I find a figure designer has not included a gens mat, but not too hard or too long. It doesn't prevent me from buying a figure.
This is less of a problem for female figures, as was noted above, because if it comes down to that I can use certain well-known products which come with scripts to "sample" surrounding surfaces to surface their gens kits properly. (And I cross-gender female figures as males a lot, for clothing-fit and other reasons.) But for male figures, if I give them genitals at all, it's the stock Studio genitals--I don't like the third-party alternatives, most of them are ridiculously excessive--and if the PA has not provided a gens mat, I have to use the leg or torso surface, fussing with its tiling and offset for twenty minutes to get it to look reasonably convincing.
The amusing thing is--speaking as, I guess, one of the few people on these forums that actually does depict sex scenes on a regular basis--it's amazing how often you can do a perfectly posed sex scene and not need to give your characters genitals at all. I mean, think about it: they're the parts you're least likely to be able to see!
I consider it a bonus. I don't make a habit of having my characters romp around naked. For the select that might in a render or two, I'm sure I can find an appropriate texture somewhere in my library. Mind you, that's making the assumption I know every situation ever that all of my characters could find themselves in when I'm choosing a texture for them. I suppose it must be frustrating to get hundreds of renders in and then... Ah, the bits are missing.
It all comes down to whether you want or need to ever render a person realistically. Motivation? Well how would you know or ever predict? Clearly you can't. ForI have seen classical art work that I thought would be super to get a DAZ 3D fascimile scene created, but until I saw that art work I had no motivation to try such a thing. I've not yet got nearly so close in my few attempts but I have seen other artists do it in the DAZ Gallery, one in particular.
I buy the characters though mostly based on quality of the textures on the face as that is where most of the PAs / DAZ effort goes.
I don't do nudes, so I couldn't care less. I have no idea whether or not the characters I've purchased have included them.
I try to include them where and how I feel they can be appropriate....like a fur covered female character is really not going to need gen textures because its all hidden under the fur. I am sure some people may argue my choices but still...the choices are made for different specific reasons. Though most of the time I try to include them
Doesn't she shave?
Agree with this.
Thanks for all of your feedback and insights, it seems there's a pretty even split.
I'm going to go ahead and keep including the Anatomical elements mat presets moving forward.

Not everyone does that.
Sounds good. But for me I have so many DAZ Apps that convert figures to and from G9, it makes my head spin. Plus I know how to convert them via geoshells and pose adjustments. I won't buy a a G9 Character unless it is different from something I own. Personally I don't find G9 unforgettable. Those that I have purchased have added new makeup, different nails, teeth, or an irresistable new character to the gene pool. I think it's more relevant to bring something new, something different , something irresistable to the table. For me A REMAKE or UPGRADE of an existing character will make my shopping cart roll away down a different aisle unless it brings a whole lot of extra, some twist or gotta have this thing I don't have.
