Is your dress the Maiden Fair Dynamic Gown ? - https://www.daz3d.com/maiden-fair-dynamic-gown

If it is it is Dynamic clothing and to pose it you will need to open the Dynamic Clothing tab and run Drape

    Thanks Bunyip02

I was getting the Daz to crash if i used single fram and animated seems to work fine.

Any ideas how i get the dress to not go through the floor?  it is set to collide but to have her feet on the floor the dress is already going through the floor.

    Thanks

Make sure your ground plane has enough divisions for the dress to actually collide with the ground when draped.

If it doesn't work with a simple drape, try with an animated drape: start with the figure high enough for the dress not to intersect with the floor in frame 0, then lower her on the floor in the last frame. Or maybe do the reverse and move the ground plane up.

Ah so i can use a timeline to animate like a i would with dforce was not sureif the animation in drap would be the same as the time line

Yes you use the timeline when making an animated drape.

I have converted a number of optitex items to use dForce. Basically just export the dress as an obj, reimport back into DS, copy over the materials, and then apply a dForce modifier. Then save the dress as a normal DS prop. You may need to tweak the settings, but since optitex items are designed to be dynamic (ie are not high poly, and the mesh is connected) then they tend to work well with dForce.

Once the dress is dForce you can convert for another figure (eg G8) by running an animated drape where a G8 morphed into V4 slowly morphs back to G8. I have used that method to convert a number of optitex items, including the Maiden Fair dress.
