Learn to make and mix shaders in Daz Studio 4.8 or higher

I want to learn how to create my own shaders as well mix them..

I have found the shader tutorial i that i bought  from daz very simple and not very clear as to how to do this..

i have also  looked the you tube tutoria by Carmine as to make this but i found it confusing...

So i would like to ask those who have managed to make shaders for some help and guidance in this matter please

Thanks in Advance

  • What do you mean by "create as well as mix"? If you are expecting to be able to use Shader Mixer to mix existing shaders with each other that's not what it does, it is for creating new shaders (or modifying those made with Shader Mixer for your own use).

i thought the shader mixer was to mix shaders only. not create 1..

There are two nodal shader creation tools in DS - Shader Mixer which uses bricks to create a shader that is compiled on the fly and Shader Builder where each node is a block of code and the whole thing gets compiled into a shader before use. Shader Builder is more elemental than Mixer, but also (at least to take advantage of its benefits) more technical. Also, Shader Mixer is the only one that makes Iray shaders as far as I know - Shader Builder is 3Delight-only.

  • No, there is a thread with links for Shader Mixer recipes and tutorials but there's very little for Shader Builder.
