Smooth Brush not working

Hi!

I'm trying to figure out how to use a smooth brush during weight editing. Despite selecting the smooth brush option, trying to change the sensitivity and inner and outer radius, the brush always tries to match the existing geometry instead of being perfectly smooth. I have been struggling with this for several hours. Is there any solution?

What are you expecting it to do? It blurs the changes in weight across the affected vertices (smoothing the distribution of weight), so it won't have much effect on a hard edge if the brush covers only a few vertices.

Thanks for your response! I was following this tutorial on YT: and smoothing brush seemed to be much smoother. That was just my misunderstanding of how it should works. Thanks!

Actually you don't have to add weight in that cumbersome way. You may just firstly turn on Use Symmetry, select the Face Group of one-side bum, Fill Selected and Smooth Selected. Each step will be symmetrised to the bum on the other side. Then you may Attenuate Selected by setting a certain percentage to increase or decrease weight as needed.

It's known that painting / smoothing weight by using brushes is not easy to use in DS, so if you do need some elegant weight, you also can sent the figure to Blender in which weight brushes are pretty much better... Then send the figure back in FBX format, use the funciton of Copy Weight to replicate the weight on the bums.
