Applying Back Tattoos to Genesis 9 Figures

Hi guys, I recently bought several of the Inked tattoo bundles. Some work on G9, some don't, given the difference between G8 and G9, that's understandable.

However, I do need to have a tattoo of angel wings on a character's back. One of the tattoos has this, but it doesn't load on to the skin. Does anyone have an idea of what I could do to make this work? Or, failing this, how I could create it myself?

Thanks!

Converting the textures to G9 UV, will be tricky. If it is for a single transfer, you might be able to adjust the texture to match G9 UV, but the UVs are rather different. To make it worse, you have a seam in the middle of the tatoo, so it has to fit rather precisly on the two sides.

You might be able to use this to do it https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-9-genesis-3-8-and-81-male

I dont have either, so I can't verify it.

The "legacy UVs" products don't convert textures, they modify G9 so it can use G8 textures.
If using a G8 skin is fine with you, it should work. However if your goal is to have the G8 tattoo over a G9 skin it will likely not help.

There are several ways to convert the textures themselves using various tools, for example this tutorial: https://www.versluis.com/2022/11/converting-skin-textures-for-use-with-genesis-9/

Is there a big difference between using the Legacy UV product and the second method you linked?

Using Legacy UV product depends on the case you have... we took for granted that you would use G8's texture maps on G9. If it's not the case, i.e. you just want to use this G8F's tattoo textures on a pure G9 character, the Legacy UV product won't work for you. You have to convert the G8 tattoo texture map as per G9's UV. Jay's tutorial is great but you will need FaceForm Wrap which is pretty costly....

You may consider using Blender to convert the tattoo map for free. Check this thread in which there's a tutorial - https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/7827386/#Comment_7827386 It may not be 100% perfect but it may be worth it based on cost-effectiveness...

Awesome! I have Blender, no experience, but I'll work it out! Thank you!
