i am new to Daz and really need help setting up a good computer. if i could talk to someone by phone that would be best. is there a chat room?
Hi Steven
What time-zone are you in?
Do you already have a computer or are you thinking of specifying one?
Steve, any computer can be used to render with daz studio you do not have to drop alot of money to get great results! Daz studio comes 3 great render engines Opengl, 3delight, and the new and shiney Nvida Iray. I love Opengl renders because it is fast, almost instant renders, but there is no real dept to Opengl. The other side of the coin is that you can use a filter on opengl render in photoshop and make them look like print or paintings which is really cool. Daz studio can also be run from a laptop just use opengl for test render and 3delight for final render. If you have alot of desposible income. I would suggest a nice hexacore i7 intel with 16 to 32 gigs of ram. As far as video cards are concerned a Nvidia Geforce 980 with 2800 cuda core and 6gb of built in video ram is an ideal card for doing iray renders in daz studio. If you won the lottery you can buy a i7 8core and drop a grand on a nvida titan x but I would not recommend this. If you are on a budget get a AMD A10 APU quadcore. This cpu has a video card built in and you can pair it up with a nvidia tesla m2090 which 512 cuda cores and 6gb of video ram. One thing the tesla card does not do video out and will not work with a nvida desktop video card but when paired with an amd apu cpu it works great.
