Error Message on Materials dForce Molly Hair for Genesis 9
I can not change the materials on above mentioned hair by Propschick. A reinstall didn't fix the problem.

Do you have the hair on a G9 character, and do you have the character selected?
That error message means that you're using a hierarchical material preset and don't have the right item selected.
My guess would be that the hair is made of multiple parts, hence the hierarchical preset. You probably need to have the figure selected and not the hair.
You can select any of the nodes shown in the attached screenshot, then apply H.Mat preset, it should work.
Sadly none of this works for me. Do you have your Content Library in it's default location? Because I don't, maybe that's the root of my problem.
Is the hair parented to the figure?
Oh boy, silly me. I was trying to change the Materials either fitted to G8 or unfitted. I didn't expect it to work only when fitted to G9.
I addressed that possibility, and you seemingly ignored it.
If so, select your G8 figure, go to menu: Edit - Figure - Scene Identification, change Node Name to Genesis9...
or parent the hair to a Genesis 9, if you have one loaded, while leaving it fitted to Genesis 8/8.1
Oh, ho ~ We have to think about any possibility... I guess you probably directly parented this SBH to G8's Head node rather than using Auto Fit... If so, you can firstly parent the hair to G8's root node, change hair's Node Name and apply H.Mat presets. After everything is done, parent it to G8's Head node...
Or, you go for Richard's solution.
Sorry for that, I simply overlooked it,
