Correlation with custom shaders load time with amount of morphs.
Hi everyone,
I have noticed that the load time for an asset with a custom shader take longer to load in correlation with the amount of morphs on a figure.
My tests were done with Genesis 8 Female. One test was done with all the morphs I used. Loading in OOT Hair which has custom shaders seems to take on average 2 minutes. Depending on the amount of morphs I had installed for my G8F figure. I also noticed loading time can take a long time when I apply PBR skin to my G8F figure. Anything with Iray shader loads instantly.
I decided to test my theory by only linking the essential morphs for G8F from the starter packs to see if there was any correlation with the amount of morphs installed affecting the load time of custom shaders other than Iray. Having only the essential morphs for G8F made the load time for OOT hair and PBR skins load under 5 seconds. A big difference IMO from the 2 minutes load time with all the morphs I use.
It's important to note that I took the time to zip all the morphs I do not currently use in order to decrease my load time. My previous experiences had load times applying any assets with custom shaders to be around 5 to 10 minutes if I had all my morphs installed for G8F. As you can see, this severely hinders the creative process having to wait for assets to load. This problems seem to be amplified if I used more G8F figures in a scene.
In conclusion, has anyone else experience the same issue as me? If so, are there any other ways to optimize/decrease load times for assets that contain custom shaders other than removing the amount of morphs I have for a figure generation? In a perfect world, I would love to have all my morphs I purchased ready to use instead of having to remove them to decrease overall load times. I expect the problem to be larger on the G9 figure since both the male and female morphs are unified.
Side note:
This problem isn't isolated to one asset, but the use of any custom shaders it appears. (I primarily mention OOT hair as I enjoy using their assets. I noticed this problem happened beforehand when I loaded a clothing that took longer to apply to the figure. That clothing also had its own custom shaders. Loading in PBR skin materials takes long to apply compared to Iray. Even when I misclick and apply 3Delight shaders, they also take long to apply. Therefore the problem isn't on a particular asset, but custom shaders from my testing.)
Checking the log files are particular helpful in pointing me in any direction. Only in nothing the asset load time.
My Daz Studio build used is 4.22.
I am not sure how morphs are affected by custom shaders as they seem to be unrelated. Geometry and textures seems like they shouldn't correlate together with asset load times. But somehow they are if they are complex enough it seems.
