Questions about installing two graphics cards in the same system

Hi everyone, although my current setup allows me to render quite well, I'm tempted to get a 4090 to pair with the 4070 I currently have.

My question is: Is it worth having both?

Will I notice a significant difference or is it not worth it?

Would it be better to only have the 4090?

Additionally, I don't understand much about the differences between the various 4090 models. Which one would benefit me the most for rendering?

My current setup is:

-i7 13700Kf

-64 RAM

-MSI PRO Z790-P DDR4

-RTX 4070

Many thanks angel

64GB may not let you take full advantage of the extra memory on the 4090, but it should get close 9and go above the 16 on your current card). Wheer a sceen fits in both cards then having them contribute to rendering would probably have a noticeable speed impact, but they do work independently so you wouldn't be able to handle even bigger scenes that way. But of course if you keep the 4070 as the display driver you will be able to work, and even use GPU-assisted applications and processes, while rendering. The possible drawback is that the bandwidth for communication with the cards may well be reduced as the channels are split, that shouldn't matter much for rendering 9or dForce) but might be an issue for some games etc.

  • Ok, I take note on that. Thx cool
