DazStudio 4.9 is very slow to load products in the 'SmartPane'. I take at least 10-seconds to load the products from the library. Returning to a product category incurs the same wait every time!
Clicking on 'Available', 'Pending' etc just shows products that I have not yet downloaded or installed from within the Install Manager. It does not connect to available products in the Daz3D shop. I thought 'Connect' allowed you to do that directly, as you can in 'Vue' for example.
Whilst logged in using DazStudio, I have to login again when I access Daz3D from within DazStudio - what is the point of logging in whilst in DazStudio? (other than for just seeing what products I have waiting in the Install Manager).
I don't see that iRay renders are noticeably any faster.
DazStudio 4.9 does not appear to offer any advantage over version 4.8. Is there a problem?

Merged into main release thread.
The Smart Content pane shows only your own products, outside the Shop tab. It will not show store items you have not purchased.
I'm not sure what you mean by "Whilst logged in using DazStudio, I have to login again when I access Daz3D from within DazStudio " - should oen of those be a reference to Install Manager or to the website? You would want to log in inside DS so you could download content using Connect - or check for updates, downloading only the updated files instead of the whole product. Logging in from DS will also get you updated metadata, again without having to redownload everything. Not everyone will see advantages in these, but theya re features of use to some.
Iray performance seems to vary - but no, it doesn't seem to eb a dramatic improvement for humans. However, there are bug fixes affecting the rendering of humans (an SSS fix) and models in gernal (a crash with CPU rendering on some models).
Are you referring to opening an existing Daz product's metadata files with the DB Editor to make fixes and then exporting the fixed Daz product metadata file? I've been doing that for a long time.
What can we do now to fix bad metadata? For example, since installing 4.9, I've discovered that the Daz Connect metadata for Scott Hair is really bad (DIM metadata is OK). I've submitted a help request, but of course it is too soon to expect a fix yet. I want to use it with Smart Content. How can I fix it myself and get back to work? (I'm not talking about creating custom categories. I'm referring to fixing products with assets that have no Type, incorrect compatibility, assets missing from the product metadata file, Base Compatibility not defined...).

Was able to find the head, body, expression products by manually scrolling trough the Available subtab with filter set to:
"Sort by Order Date: Recent First"
- edit: deleted obsolete image.
Those products have no user-facing files -- my guess is that the Da Librarian needs to add at least one user-facing file so that they will show up.

1. I can see many preset or subset , which grouped as "LOCAL USER" product.
I understand, it seems generated from imported "user_data" and if the files are not grouped as "product"
these files seems to be gathered as "LOCAL USER" to see them in smart content.
But It is just my suspect, then please clear When "LOCAL USER" product was generated,
and How we manage it as official answer.
and when user categorize, or assgined meta-data compatibility by themselfs, all files will be grouped as "LOCAL USER"?
there is exceptional case, or not. if there is exceptional case, what is.
2 IF User try to make "product" (eg "myproduct1" ) from files gathered as One "LOCAL USER" product, these files assgined as "myproduct" will be removed from "LOCAS USER"?
if it can not work, we must see duplicate items in smart content, when we make new product. from them.
Or it is not intended, I still keep problem to migrate DB correctly because of MY handmade product data, and User data
which I have made in other version DAZ studio, conflict in ds 4.9 DB?
if so, what is the correct way, to keep clean database, when user hope to make product meta-data for assets offered from other shop,

IF daz do not offer stable way to make "product" meta-data as we like,,when we hope so,
Smart content never can be smart serching tool for most of user. or may be useful only for DAZ shop items (with DAZ proud Librarian meta-data)
Such serching tool is not smart at all. I do not request DAZ please auto-genearte product from items which I get from other shop,
and items which I hand made. but There should be Clear document as official, to make product about these files, safety.
then use them with "user_data" (not categorized as product, or categorized as "LOCAS USER" product without confliction.

I ended up finding all the missing "morph only" files with DAZ Connect with "filter by context" off.
A remaining issue nevertheless seems that those morph files may not show up when entering search words because they do not have dummy files with "tags" or "keywords".
I get what you mean.
Victoria 7 HD does show up when G3F is selected because there is an actor figure included that was set to be compatible with G3F.
Without dummy file products may not show up in standard searches.

Also with "filter by context" deactivated "morph only products" do not show up in searches.
Why does that happen? At least the name of a product should show up in the search?
Maybe the product name needs to be manually added as "tag" so the librarian can save that reference in its database?

Searching for Genesis 3 Female Head Morphs gives me 2073 results:

No clue why the Genesis Generation 1 Orcs show up in that selection...
But the search term is exactly as the Product name so why does the product not show up in the subtab All with Filter by context off?

What worked for me to spot the files was to set
Order Date: Recent first and then scrolling down until they showed up.

Now I will try to do the same thing for Genesis 2 morphs.
Actually what worked better in this case was to
Sort by Name: A-Z and then I found all those products that started with Genesis in the Name...

Seems all those morph products are there. I just had trouble finding them because they did not show up in searches because tags seem missing.
I leave those search examples. Maybe someone else learns from my mistakes and then finds those products more quickly...

I want to check on something, cos I'm a bit confused with all the terminology that is around.
With 4.9, are we now basically relying on the Smart Content tab ONLY when browsing or looking for something? Doing it via the Content Library won't be sufficient any longer?
With CONNECT ONLY products, will they ONLY show in the Smart Content tab (or the Products or Category lists)? They won't show at all in the Content Library?

I do not think we can relying on the smart content tab only to looking for something even though you serch only daz shop items.
eg I have several items which installed by DIM with empty product meta_data. but these are not shown in smart content as files.
it will be shown in smart content>product , when you log in , but it is only empty product. then we can not serch items,
even though I have already installed it , and can find each items in content library with path.
they may appear only when I install DAZ connect package , as actuall files we can access from smart content. (but without category,
because there are many product which have not offered real meta-data, but only product name, to be shown in smart content.
2 if the item have real meta data , then you installed the product already , these items must be shown in Content Library too.
in ContentLibrary>product, and ContentLibrary>Category, there is no difference, between ds 4.8 and ds 4.9,
about Connect only product, there should be no difference. because smart content and content library
see same database record. and field.
My admittedly limited testing says yes. Anything you download through Daz Connect will only appear on the Smart Content tab (and maybe Categories in the Content Library - but I have not tested this)
However, you can create folders in your Content Library and then Drag and Drop from the Smart Content tab into those folders. This does not move the files, but it does create shortcuts (that may or may not need to be recreated whenever the product updates - that is also unclear at the moment) in your Content library that work the same way.
They will show up in Products and Categories, but not in DS-Formats/Poser-Formats, although you can drag them there to create a link to the item which can be organized at the file-system level.
Products installed with Daz Connect (e.g. Lynsey for Genesis 3 Female(s)) show up in the Content Library Products section and Categories section. They will not show up under the Daz Studio Formats section unless you create folders and shortcuts for the files there yourself, which I have not tried.
So that means, we can not use simple file system serching for product installed by DAZ connect anymore.
without manually making them as fake.
(I can not believe it is useful, we need to make real folda structure ,for reference (short cut) only for serch items .
or yours often make short cut with real structure not only for desktop?
You certainly can search for them using your file system, that has nothing to do with what shows up in Content Library > X-Formats
Now I have one product which installed by DIM, but planed to test with daz connect package to see how it work more clear.
I arealdy log in daz connect, then there is already meta-data by DAZ connect of the prodcut.
1. I uninstall the product by DIM clean. (it is installed by DIM not daz connect), I remove orphan data from daz studio.
2. I serch the product to install it by DAZ connect with log in.
3 DAZ studio do not show me the product which I have bought anymore.
maybe I need to delete manually DAZ connect installed meta-data from "DAZconnectdirectory"/cloud/meta/1_XXXX.json ?
Now I believe User who hope to use product offered by DIM with DAZ connect Content, must get many funny problem about ds 4.9.

Was the product showing in DS for install before you uninstalled it with DIM? What product?
that means it work without problem for Mike? I test with Cateye suit for genesis3female.
after uninstall it by DIM, daz connect or smart content, not show me the product which can be install by DAZ connect.
actually it disappeared. (I mean product icon to install it by DAZ connect, as daz connect package
of course it return, when I re-install same product by DIM again. but I can not find to install DAZ connect package of the product.

I certainly can search for them using my file system, that has nothing to do with what shows up in Content Library > X-Formats
then what you were talking about ? it was about daz stuido,and way to find content in content library to load items. I
then we could load items by file path in content library about all. (with some exception)
or you have used file system, eg exloler of your windows,,(not content library) to load items in daz stuido?
OK I found what is wrong, I serched Cateye suit by A to Z in all and availabe section. with input "C" or "Ca" only in serch window.
it seems not work for the purpose. (though most of aprication serch system work, but daz studio is real gerat unique aprication, then

And "ALL" show product, firslt,,, already installed,,by A to Z order , then next show items "available" A to Z order.

I have been asking and asking about the product search. I can't get an answer about how to search by product name. Even customer service cannot seem to understand what I am asking. It seems like a very simple question to me. I want to enter part of a product name and see a list of products that have that string in the name. It does not work that way. How do I search by product name?

the reason may be how discribed in meta-data as tagged key word or something I feel.
linvanchen seems state it already, I feel. (I can not see all topic,, to solve myown problem,,,one by one,,)
But I have not checked the meta-data which offered by DAZ connect,
maybe the serch system need to use the keyword in the meta-data I feel..
but I do not know, maybe mike or someone give you right answer.
it can order item by A to Z by product name. But when I imput the product name, it can not serch the product , real unique!!

I play with new meta-data and tag,, then find if I check keywrods in smart content pane,
about each files,, then add new tag "c" it can find the files with "c"
there are already some tag about this file, eg "Cateye" , then if I input these words it can work.
but actually I can only see these key words after I found the file.. (why I need,,after found it?)
and it is real unique,, Cateye work, but jusi imput Ca not work.. after I add new keywords "c"
when I input c, it work.. but ca still not work.. and when I change pane,, as category,,
there seems no tag,, which user can easy find,, (I check meta-data,, but each keywords seems
assigned with each file,, not product,,,, maybe,, if I tag keyword about one file,,the product can be shown
with the keywords? yes it worked! DAZ studio is real Unique!!!

I'm in the proccess of shutting down for the night so I can't check, but if you go to the Smart content tab, and then to the Products view, I think you should be able to search products that way.
