Does blender 4.1 support multiple gpu setup and does vram stack if if does?
Comments
FYI I'm using a titan xp pair non sli
Of course yes blender can use multiple gpus, of course the vram doesn't stack unless the hardware provides this feature. However, cycles can store textures in ram for "out of core" rendering, so you can go outside the vram limits, that is not possible with iray.
I had in the past 2x 2080Ti RTX with NvLink to pool the VRAM.
It did work with Blender, but there from time to time bugs and issues because this was an uncommon setup which was not so well tested by the devs and community.
However, memory pooling with SLI/NvLink is not working anyway. Nether in Blender or DAZ.
Best thing is to get a RTX4090 with 24GB VRAM. ;)
Of course. Some time ago I had 4 X 2080ti, and it scaled pretty much linearly.
Blender doesn't support NVlink but DS + older Nvidia drivers used to well support NVlink / memory pooling... i.e. from a certain version, Nvidia drivers started not to support NVlink with two cards ~~
doesn't that slow it to cpu rendering speed? Im running Ryzen 3 4100 quad core
Oh yeah and to whoever suggested it I'm NOT getting RTX anything and definitely not a 4090!!!!
Also random question can VDBs export from Daz to blender?
Textures in ram will use the cpu for transferring and the gpu for rendering, so yes it's slower then the gpu alone but faster than the cpu alone. As for vdb blender has it own (better) importer so no need to pass through daz studio for that.

I know blender has its own Vdb. I have some. I just want to use the ones already in the scene. Is that possible?
No. You have to load the daz scene and the vdb separately.
