Daz Studio 4.9 error

I get a connection error?  what does this even mean? its not something I got in the Beta version.

    Had you closed DIM or DS4.8 or the 4.9 beta shortly before launching 4.9?  Since the PostgreSQL CMS only runs when DIM, DS, or Carrara are running, if you close one and launch another quickly the shut down from one session can overlap the startup of the other.  Shut doen 4.9, give it time to finish any cleanup, then launch it again.

    I get that too, but it's because I never installed the PostgreSQL CMS. If you haven't either, then that may be why.

    Okay I restarted my computer and I still get the same issue :/

    and I am not even sure what settings to change...

    i never use any content manager i have structured my runtimes since the beginning (following jakiblues runtime advisor)and i live pretty good with this. now of course the daz 4 files are in the daz 4 library but the rest (all m4/m4 and mil 3 generations and poser content) is in my old runtime since the times of daz 2 and i have no issues ever.can i install daz 4.9 and not use all the brilliant new features,just have the application running the way 4.8 does,withouth thrashing around my databases??:besides this i dont use iray i come pretty good along with delight.

    But it was working fine for the beta?  Is the beta still working?

    Yes, you can ignore Connect and just work the way you always have.

    4.9 will work just fine without any of the smart content features and you can manually manage your existing files just as you used to.

    Is there any way to disable this error message? I use the content library and DIM so I have no use for smart content/connect.

    Get used to it being there, they want you using their thick as a brick content DB system.

    EDIT

    Especially as it's the only way to register your machine so you can use Connect encrypted content.

    @DAZ_Rawb, can you clarify that a bit more? You state "you can manually manage your existing files just as you used to" but in the FAQ for DAZ Connect it's stated: "You cannot move files around for products installed through Daz Connect. You can change the drive and/or path to which products are installed using Daz Connect, but you cannot manually re-organize the files within the product."

    Or does this actually mean that you can't do that for products that are installed via DAZ connect? Products that are installed either manually or via the DIM, you CAN still manually manage our files?

    Well damn. So connect encrypted content can't be download with DIM without the need for the CMS?

    I think DIM is only for downloading non Connect content, from now on it looks like the encrypted content will be downloaded from inside DS, something similar to how Amazon's Kindle ebook readers work, always connected to their store.

    that sounds great but me beeing a bit paranoid (lol)i will first install on another machine wich i use less often just in case hehehe.thanks for the answer!!!!

    I just got this error message too havnt got a clue sorry dont even know what PostgreSQL CMS is much less whether its installed or not .I did try turn off windows firewall and my antivirus seeing as i dont know what conflicts too look for

    I have found a way that fixed it for me , opended DIM and uninstalled both postgreSQL CMS and postgreSQL CMS from valentina CMS conversion (makeing sure DAZ studio was not runnin) and then redownloaded them and installed again by DIM and the error message has gone and I can connect to my DAZ account through studio now which I couldnt do before.

    So instead of fixing all open bugs since 4.8 they stubbornly released 4.9 !

    Does anybody know, how to get PostgrSQL run with the popular firewalls, as is ZA?

    Future DAZ content might be DAZ connect only products. By this way DAZ could force you to use DAZ connect. The first DAZ connect only products are allready availeble. http://www.daz3d.com/lynsey-for-genesis-3-female-s

    PostgrSQL has had a long standing problem with Zone Alarm and it is not something DAZ can fix.  Anyone using ZA will just have to switch to a less flaky antivirus.

    So, great... good news i can use the content I have as if there isn't a problem... that really doesn't fix the issue of the connect only content in the future. So... does any one know what settings I'd need to change in the virus protection or firewall settings?

    What part of "PostgrSQL has had a long standing problem with Zone Alarm" are you not getting, it won't work, either except that or get a different antivirus/firewall program.

    i installed first on my laptop to test and it almost went south with error messages - but i am sure it was my fault because i might have domne something wrong way back in time when i first installed it on the laptop with minimum content and so on.:

    first one was error running : daz3d content manager service uninstall default content.exe --mode unattended.failed

    well i uninstalled manually.

    then while installing it did not overwrite core files .i had to get rid manually of the daz 4 core files and then came the ultimate error "dws4 child killed" (lol)anyway i installed anew and also the genesis essentials and then it worked.but as i mentionned above surely my fault with the installation way back.

    on my 2 main computers it installed flawlessly no problems at all.only thing is when i load an elder scene from daz 4.8 it takes time to migrate the data but i can live with that .all in all looks good and i guess it will be fun.

    ZoneAlarm has refused to allow PostgreSQL to run with it since before 2009.

    I too am pestered with this error message.  So far I've found no conclusive answer to it.  I have completely uninstalled Norton 360, and manually opened a port for DS64 (the error does not occur in DS32) with no effect.  At this point I'm guessing there is something quirky about the Smart Content | Login | Remember Me function.  If you know the answer to this issue, I would take it kindly if you would share with me.  Thanks in advance.

    Jakiblue the comment made from DAZ_Rawb is absolutly correct you do not need a Content Manager, all content can be loaded in DAZ Studio Manually , I do it all the time. I only use the DIM when I get lazy1 I have structured my DAZ Management systen where all of my content is loaded manually. and if I switch to another computer I just reload my back up filed in my DAZ LIBRARY,... Something like 95 GIGS. It always work for me. Besides when ever I have a small problem I can easily trouble shoot to problem fast.  For me this works so well.

     

    And by the way DAZ 4.9 is wonderful it is the best!!!

    I get that sometimes.  I think certain antivirus programs can mess with it.  Try disabling the antivirus, click start CMS, and when its running put antivirus back on.  Works for me.
