Workflow question

Hi,

I noticed that unlike Blender Daz does not support AMD GPUs and HIP rendering at all. That is not a huge issue since I have a backup PC with 3060 Ti in it but here is my question in regards to workflow. The main PC with AMD card (7800x3D and 7900 XT) is way more conveniently placed for me since it is my main PC and I was wondering if it is viable to make all the stuff on my main PC and then render it in big batches on the secondary one. Is there some option to save multiple scenes with different models, etc in one file or would I have to save every single render as a separate file and then open each one and render it on the other PC?

Thanks!

  • There are some scripts/plugins available that do batch rendering in DS.

Unfortunately, each scene has to be saved individually, and will be loaded individually in DS.

I personally dropped batch rendering, due to all the problems that can arise with ds/iray.

If the scene doesn't fit in your gpu, it'll drop to cpu and the only way to stop the batch is to crash(end task in task manager) the program.

If a 'memory leak' (iray doesn't fully release vram) happens, it'll drop to cpu.

If a particular scene throws an error, such as duplicate formulas or missing asset, it just stops till the user clicks the acknowlede button(s).

If a particular scene has a render problem, such as fireflies or overly agressive denoising, again, crash the program.

As always, your mileage may vary and not everybody is going to experience any of these problems.

    And this plugin - https://www.daz3d.com/render-queue-3

As long as you can make VRAM consumption controllable by well making and optimizing each scene so as to avoid CPU fallback, Render Queue is a pretty good plugin for batch rendering.
