Hi there,
I'M devastated and really hoping someone can help me. I downloaded DAZ3D in the past but deleted it. I have reinstalled it now and I can't open my files. As soon as I click on a file, I get an error message saying "File does not exist". I did a bit of googling and found out that I need to make sure that the paths of DAZ3D and the files are the same. The problem is - they are, but it still doesn't work. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Thanks a lot!Post edited by siiozz955 on

Is this one of your own files or content from a product? How did you install the content?
Thanks for you answer!
I installed it with DIM, but I noticed that it's only Genesis 8 Male and Female that isn't working.
Any idea why?
Make sure you don't have a bad install through Connect (right-click on the product cotnainer in Daz Studio - if there is an Uninstall option select it; it doesn't touch the DIM files, but if the system things there are connect files it will try using those and ignore the DIM copies).
That's definitely the problem, as Genesis 8 Male and Female are the only People folders in DAZ Connect.
Unfortunately there's no way to uninstall them.
By the way - I right-clicked and deleted Genesis 8 Male and Female from the DAZ Studio Format folder to see if that would solve the problem, and now for some reason everything is uninstalled from DIM...
I even have to download everything again. Isn't it saved because of my account? DAZ is still working by the way.
As you can see, I'm a complete newbie, I literally just started DAZ today and I really don't want to waste your time.
DIM tracks installs through the Manifest files, so unless it was putting those in the content directory (which it certainly shouldn't have been) nothing you did in DS should affect them - moving, renaming, or deelting the manifests folder would do that (in DIM go to Advanced Settings then its instalaltion tab).
Those are the files you are right-clicking on, you need the product container - Genesis 8 Starter Essentials, either in the Products tab of Smart Content or the "folder under products>G in the Content Library pane.
Yes, the trick is always: never use Daz Connect to install products ... as there're some problems in it ~~ We used to have lots of lessons and learns.
There're fixing / enhancements being developed for Daz Connect in the latest Public Build. Try with it later on if you DO need it ~~
It was implemented alongside the encryption system. it still has the advantage that updates require downloading only the files that haev changed, not the whole zip, which is good for people with limited bandwidth; it also forces lower-case for file names, which may help people trying to run DS on Linux; all files are in a single folder for each product, which simplifies both trouble-shooting and modification; because there is no DIM/Daz Central involvement there are no manifests with hard paths needing updating, just copy the database to a new system and the content will be available even if the directory names and locations have changed.
