How to stop glowing eyes from impacting eyelids?

Hello, I've been messing around with trying to make glowing eyes (with a Genesis 9 figure). I figured out how to get the iris to glow but not the sclera by setting the shader on the eyes to Iray Uber and using a mask on the Emission Color. That actually worked and looks neat, it creates the glow effect I intended.

Unfortunately, these new glowing eyes are causing light to bleed through the eyelids, resulting in the reddish-pink upper eyelids seen in the pic. That's not what I'm going for—I want the eyelids not to be impacted by the glow. I just want them to look normal, with no light bleeding through.

I've tried messing around myself and googling, but I can't find any way to stop this from happening to the eyelids. Does anyone know? Is it possible?

You could remove all transmission and scattering from the skin colour, but that would then have an effect over the whole figure. The only localised alternatives I can think of are two renders, one with and one without the glow, and apply the one without, suitable masked, above the with or try making an extra geeomtry layer to sit between eyeball and lids to block light. Real skin would do this, so faking it off will be tricky.

Sub-surface scattering on real human skin... Just like what you see when you place your hand near a bulb. It looks pretty natural and physical. You don't have to fix it.

You both make good points. Merely keeping it as is (since this is what real skin would do) is probably the simplest solution. It looks kind of awkward to me but yeah, that probably is what actual glowing eyes would look like.

I tried the masking technique with 2 renders in Photoshop that Richard mentioned—that did the trick, but perhaps this is something best left as-is. It's nice to have the option, though.

I downloaded Glowing Eyes for Genesis 3/8/9 at Renderosity this week.  It's in the Free Stuff section and is by rendorgal.  It may suit your needs.
