Products NOT being categorized or assigned
They did it again. Daz people didn't do their job, again. I was looking for clothing for my G9 and I stayed away from InStyle. I bought dForce Enchanted Dress Genesis 8-8.1F and G9 and the 7th Ave: dForce Enchanted Dress Genesis 8-8.1F and G9 for extra textures. THEY BOTH ARE IN MY LOST AND FOUND FOLDER!!!!!! This is a load of carp (you can rearrange the letters). Don't blame the creators of the products for slacking, they probably don't know better. But the crew at DAZ studios does! All they are intererested in is making money and not bother doing their jobs. it's like going to a car dealership to buy a new car and when you go to pick it up, they expect you to assemble it yourself. That is why I hardly shop at DAZ Studio's site, i don't want to do their job.
I know, I know. You can say I can make the corrections. BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW!
HEEEEELLLPPP!!!!!!!!!

Moved to Technical Help as it is not a Daz Studio topic, although the answer can be.
The large batches of content that came over en bloc from rendeosity were not categorised, no. You can add categories by right-click in a content pane - select all the items you want in the same category, then right-click on one of them>Categorise and select the cats you want. You an make them "Smart" too, load and select in the Viewport the thing some files should be compatible with (e.g. the clothing item for a st of textures), then drag the files across from the Content Library into the desired category and select the file type (e.g. material Preset for Iray) when asked.
I bought the products from Rendo and installed them with Content Wizard... so would never get any issue, ha ~
So, I simulated your case and here's a mini tutorial : screenshot 1 ~ 2
Do the same to Base product and texture add-on product.
Richard, now that makes sense about the move for Renderosity. No one explained that to me before. I understand now it's not DAZ, just the product. I'll try the "catagorizing" trick you mentioned, though I've already tried to do it on the package and the option wasn't there. I did find the option if I do one item in the package at a time. Too time consuming.
Crosswind, I forgot I had gotten Content Wizard the last time I had this problem, Not looking forward to learning 'another' program (I'm old). But I'll try. I'm going to check on the proceedure Richard mentioned, as well as another possible trick I have in mind.
Yep ~ actually what Richard suggested is more or less the same thing that I showed you in the above screenshots... only difference is that he told you do these in Content Library, while I gave you the path in Smart Content... the final results will be the same after you Categorize them.
Crosswind, I looked at your pics and that's going to be the route for me. I like to do them in Smart Content, not sure I can find them in the Content Library because I have no idea where they would put the file or what name it will be using.
Richard, Crosswind, thank you for your help.
Crosswind, out of curiosity, don't I need to check the boxes for Wardrobe, Materials, and Iray?
Ah, no, you just need to select the lowest level... otherwise there'll be multiple entries of Category data written to cms database. They are redundant.
Crosswind, I came up with a problem for the materials. I did what you demonstrated, added the dress to my model, clicked the dress's name under the Scene tab, clicked the filter, and the materials do not show up. If I uncheck the Filter and do a search with the name, the do show up. Am I missing something? (Also, when the filter is checked, the Materials folder disappears.)
What was selected at the time?
Ah, I totally didn't know you use Filter by Context. If so, that might mean no Compatibilities are given to Material Presets either...
Pls follow the screenshots 1~ 2 firstly to identify if Compatibilities are given to the wearables and presets...
And, yes as Richard said, make sure you have Enchanted_Dress selected in Scene pane. (ss3)
Thanks, Crosswind, I'll do that. I also did another trick. For years I have been creating figures and placed them in folders in my Content Library tab. I have one now for Gen 9. Under that folder I made a clothing sub-folder. Next I found the dress and it's material in my Cointent Library folder. I copied that folder into my Gen 9 Clothing folder. It makes it easier to find without going back and forth between Content Library and Smart Content tabs.
Oh, that's a neat trick !
Thanks, I learn from the best.
