Sending mesh from zbrush back to daz problem...

Hello, I'm having problems between daz and zbrush.

I have both the latest versions, daz 4.9 and zbrush 4r7 latest patch. Every time I hit the button inside daz to sent to zbrush it works good, I can sculpt and move stuff. But once I sent it back to daz using the Goz button, I get  msg that says: "The topology of the object has changed. The object cannot be updated. Select the action you want to perform:"

After that, daz brings the mesh as a separate object in the scene, and no morphs can't be brought back. But if I export again that mesh (that has no rigging) to zbrush and bring it back then I get the dialog box that gives me the options to create the morphs... but that is not what I exactly want, I don't know if is something that was changed in the latest 2 versions of daz and because of that I can't create morphs the old way.

Interesting...I haven't updated yet as I'm in the middle of project plus I like to wait until the bugs are squished. This would be a deal breaker for me updating though if it does it everytime.

Before you send it to ZBrush did you reduce subD to 0 under mesh resolution?

Thanks a lot Pendraia, I reduce subD to 0 under mesh resolution like you said and it works perfect now. You are the best ;)

  • As Pen says, set it to base resolution or don't check the Current resolution box in the dialogue as you leave DS to go to ZBrush.

I don't have the send to GOZ link in my Files section. I see Hexagon and Carrara....it was there in 4.8...how do I get it back under the Files tab?

Edit: Ok, I discovered that it was not updated with the 4.9 I had to manually download it and manually install it. DIM did not update it when it updated Studio to 4.9. I can't remember if that had to be done with 4.8...DIM has it listed in it's files for 4.9 when I look at Installed files, I couldn't even use the green button that would download/Install...I never have any luck with that icon for anything to be honest. I click it and refresh DIM and nothing shows up. Close out DIM and reopen and still nothing. So manual download wins.

Glad I was able to help...it's lucky I stumbled upon this again as I forgot to click the star...I'm so used to just posting giving me alerts that I forget to do it.

That's odd Nosiferret...if it didn't get updated it should have still been installed I would have thought. Did you look in DIM under installed? Maybe it just needed to be uninstalled and reinstalled but it's odd.

I know that I uninstalled DS and reinstalled it and I had to do that to get my goZ back. It's possible to use Zbrush and DS without it but so much easier to  use goZ.

Actually Richard under mesh resolution there are two settings...the sub D one is the slider that needs to go to zero. The other is called resolution level and that doesn't need to be touched. It used to once upon a time iirc but now you get a box pop up that says export at current resolution and export with deformations I normally leave both ticked. You can actually toggle between the resolutions in zbrush. You just can't add to them by dividing again or adding polys or use HD if you want to send it back as a morph at least I can't. I know there is a method for vendor's to do HD morphs.

    Just wanted to clarify...

    cheers
