hair shaders on AM's lion?

Anyone know if it's possible to apply hair shaders to the fur on AM's lion?

I need a white lion with a blue mane (because fantasy, and reasons), and I've managed to make it work on the Daz Big Cat 2, but he's not as fluffy as I would like. AM's lion would be perfect, but the coloring is a make-or-break issue.

TIA.

[ETA: I have the extra hair packages for the BC2 lion that makes him more fluffy than he was... but he's still not as fluffy as I'd like.]

You can use Omni shader on the dForce AM Lion fur (and other shaders at your preference). I presume you'd have to do some photoshopping on the underlying texture. ETA: I've not twiddled with this one, but I modified the similar texture file for the Daz Horse 2 to get a particular color I wanted.

Just had to do it. smiley

Oh holy buckets, he's perfect!! Thank you for the demo!

And  yeah, for the BC2 lion I made, I had to greyscale the underlying texture so it didn't keep coming through tan (which I was pretty proud of figuring out at the time because I'd only ben Daz'ing for about a month at that point). But that's easy enough and I can do it again.

    Thank you again!

  • Yup, sold. This is exactly what I was trying to get out of the Big Cat lion but couldn't.

    Also, gorgeous render!!

Thank you! I was looking back at the thread and decided it would be fun to follow through and get a finished product.

Just as you mentioned doing, I used Photoshop to grayscale and slightly lighten the stock AM texture for the coat, and replaced the color to get the blue eyes. Because I've been using Chevybabe's Omni shader for everything I can lately, that's what's used here, and I especially love the "Snow White" fur in this lighting, but it sure looks like you could use your choice of shaders. ColorWerks 3 is another one that I use a lot.

Footnote: Originally I had used a lighter blue but as I was fine-tuning the lighting here, my husband walked in, surveyed the progress, and said, "That's not blue. That's more green." Me: "That's blue. A teal-y blue." After this debate went on a bit longer, I opted for this darker blue.

  • I'd been planning on Colorwerks 3 (what I used for current lion) as I haven't made the jump to omni yet (none of the hairstyles on offer so far have matched what I need) but I might grab it just for this. I love the sort of ethereal effect it gives, which would be dead on correct for this. Thanks for letting me know what settings you used. (And yeah, in the story his mane is darkish blue.)
