Metal flakes for Mercia?

HeraHera Posts: 1,957

I own this product, CJ Mercia For Genesis 9 | Daz 3D and it comes with a function that is supposed to be adding metal flakes. Only that it does not seem to work. I render,  I apply, render again, I remove render again - absolutely no difference between the two. Then I try to apply the flakes to a geoshell, but the only thing happening is that she's covered in a white shell. No flakes to be seen.
Am I missing something or is the product faulty?

I have that figure and a quick test shows the difference between "flakes" and "no flakes" setting ("flakes" having a shinier and lighter skin). See attached pictures. Both rendered in the same light/camera position, and with the skin setting set do default.

I haven't tested it, but perhaps, if you set the skin settings to more/max shine, the flakes effect isn't visible anymore?

Edit: apparently, Cloudfare error still let the post through, but without attachments.

It works for me too. See attached render (without and with metal flakes - default shine).

In fact, if nothing happens when applying the metallic flakes preset, all you have to do is going to the materials tab. Then select skin and type metallic in the search field. If matallic flakes is off, just turn it on. It's the only thing the preset does.See screenshot. Hope this helps!

Well, more than just turn it on, it sets some values in the parameters that were not in the default load, but they are very low. You can boost the Metallic Flakes Weight and/or Metallic Flakes Size as you like. Try it on adjacent surfaces so that you can see the difference across a seam.
