Daz Connect Offline-Online Machines

SOLVED!

I don't know if anyone else has posed this question, as there are so many regarding the new update of DAZ Connect 4.9 that I literally cannot narrow my search for a specific answer.  First, I would like to say that I've read the instructions for DAZ Connect before asking this question here.

My situation: I have two machines that currently have DAZ Studio installed.

One machine is my mainframe and lacks the hardware to connect to the internet, and it is currently running DAZ 4.8 - everything has been transferred offline to this computer using a slave drive from my online machine and DIM.

My other machine is an online machine, where I have recently updated to DAZ 4.9 Connect yesterday and have purchased a few encryption ONLY files.

Anyway, DAZ 4.9 Connect is working fine as far as I can tell on my online machine, and all of my encrypted files have been downloaded to it.  No problems thus far.

I would like to transfer over my encrypted files to my offline machine - which cannot connect to the internet, but I know that the encrypted files CANNOT be read by DAZ 4.8.

Here are my two questions:
1) If I manually install DAZ 4.9 Connect to my offline computer through my online computer, will I be able to install/run the program WITHOUT ever having access to the internet?

2) If I manually install DAZ 4.9 Connect to my offline computer, will I be able to transfer the encrypted files manually from my online machine (using DAZ 4.9 Connect) and have them run without ever having been connected to the internet on my offline machine, using only my manually downloaded .sea & .sep files as well as the folders of the downloaded content from my online machine?

If anyone knows the answer to these questions, please let me know.
I am hoping that the convenience of only connecting one machine to the internet, while the other machine never connects still works in DAZ 4.9 Connect as it had in DAZ 4.8 and earlier.

I apologize if this question has already been asked on the Forums, but currently I'm am on a wait-ticket for this particular issue inside Customer Service, and I don't want to manually install DAZ 4.9 Connect onto my offline machine if it's going to prevent my ability to use the program because it lacks an internet connection.  Nor do I want DAZ 4.9 Connect if I can install it on my offline machine, to prevent me from accessing both my old and my new content because I cannot connect it to the internet in anyway.

This issue was solved for me.  Since I don't know how to lock or close these discussions, I'll just edit this discussion and say - It's Closed.

  • 1. I successfully installed and launched DS4.9 while my computer was offline. No problems here. (My internet connection is part-time; I downloaded with DIM while online, then installed later.)

    2. Don't know for sure, but what I've seen of the explanation indicates that the answer is probably no - you can't currently get a computer to work with Daz Connect files without taking that individual machine online at least once.

In the DAZ Connect FAQ it does say that filing a ticket is the route to go in this situation.

    • Can I copy products installed using Daz Connect from one computer to another?

The preferred workflow is to log in to each computer and install the desired products using Daz Connect. If this is not a workable solution, please contact Customer Support for potential alternatives.

Products downloaded and installed through Daz Install Manager or directly from the online store will continue to function as they currently do.

sad Yeah.  That's how I read it also. Sounds like I might have to buy some hardware for my workstation before I can install Daz Connect.

  • Yes, I did file a ticket last week.  I'm on a wait list for a response from Customer Service.
