create a static prop from rigged figure?

Can I convert a rigged figure into a static "unrigged" prop as if I were importing an OBJ without anything but mesh and material settings?
Im on 4.8.
with enormous scenes it's complicated to export a single (or multiple objects) as an obj without a lot of overhead, there was a script to do this but it constantly crashed when used on anything but a small scene. I need a way to quickly and efficiently export an articulated figured into a static prop if anyone has an ideas.
thanks.

Since Studio will export everything that isn't hidden as one obj...why not just hide what you want to keep rigged and export the rest? If you play around with the collect files option, you should be able to reimport the whole mess, textured...
because in some cases there are litterly hundreds of items and in addition hidden things like morph target data can throw the origin off to the point where trying to reset it to the figure's physical center can be very time consuming. I've run into repeated issues with the OBJ export with my workflow so I'm looking for an alternate.

One of Rob's sample scripts will handle this for you http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/nodes/convert_figure_to_props/start
thank you both.
I'll try when I get home.
