DS 4.9 - Iray "No Renderer Available"

When I try to render in Iray in 4.9, I get a "No Renderer Available" (and no further information is in the error log).  This is on an Imac on which I have Studio installed in my personal files, not in the system Applications; this worked fine in 4.8, though, and the manual installation process did pick the correct locations (else I could not have launched at all).  3delight continues to render fine.

Any advice (other than filing a ticket, which isn't a great idea nowadays)?

I am running 4.9 and I am on an iMac , running the 64 version with no problem.  I can Render Iray and 3Delight , no error messages. Just thought I put it here because we both use iMac.

Just out of curiousity, could you tell us what graphic card you have? Look at "About this Mac" under the little Apple symbol in the upper left hand of the screen...it will be listed as graphics. You should aleways be able to runder using your cpu but if you don't have a modern Nvidia card, gpu render won't be available.

Iray (which worked fine in 4.8) is CPU only on this machine.  It is 64-bit Studio, and the plugins list does show "NVIDIA Iray Renderer" with a green plug symbol.  It is rather puzzling.

 

Update - for whatever it's worth: seems the problem is that I am running an older OS release, Snow Leopard, on the machine in question. 

Bummer.
