Can't Open a file in 4.8 after using 4.9

First I didn't realize that 4.9 would obliterate 4.8 on my machine...but I did find a way to get 4.8 up and running again (in mid project and want to see it through with 4.8).  But now I find that some projects I opened with 4.8 can no longer be opened with 4.8.  It gives me an error message and refers to the log file.  That file BTW, is a lot of code stuff I can't translate...and it pops up in  an Adobe Illustrator document of all things.

Is there a way to open the files in 4.8...or had 4.9 altered them so such a degree that they can only be opened in 4.9?

    4.9 should not have altered any file, unless you explicitely told it do reinstall some items via Connect.

    Can you try again to open the file and then post the few last lines of the log?

    If you open the log, delete everything and save it before trying to load the item you can just post that.
